Chapter 23

'You will be coming home to sleep while you stay in Seoul,' Jin Woo closed her eyes ending the discussion.

'But...,'

'Just listen to her, and it will be better to have you around after what happened.' Ha Joon patted his shoulder and they walked out of Jin Woo's bedroom leaving her to rest.

'I cannot come home while working, Ajusshi! You know my job isn't an office job. I could easily bring trouble home.'

'It came even when you weren't here. Just listen to Ajumma this once.'

Seo Hwi nodded knowing he could never refute his adopted parents; their word was always final for him.

'I'll go check the site of the outbreak. From what I gathered from the demon is that someone opened a portal accidentally or maybe even purposely. I need to gather more information before I talk to the Devil. I will try to come home today, or before Ajumma notices.'

'Wait,' Jin Woo threw a key at Seo Hwi who grabbed it without missing a heartbeat.

'A welcome home gift, you might need it.'

Seo Hwi grinned as he saw the logo on the keys, it's a Mercedes. Seo Hwi ran to his Dodge and got his duffle bag before going to the garage, which was well decorated with some expensive cars. A little push on the key quickly revealed his present.

A matt black, silver-rimmed wheels, Mercedes Jeep with blood-red custom interior. Seo Hwi loved it. He threw his bag into the passenger seat and sped out of the mansion with no clue where he was heading to.

Soon enough, he was accompanied by Rumors.

Master, we are back, did you miss us. We missed you and we have many tales for you.

Oh focus, tell him what the King said. Business first and then pleasure.

Seo Hwi rolled his eyes, at the orbs swirling in the car. He was used to the 'Dumb and Dumber' act.

'Location is within the Seoul city boundaries, Bukhansan Mountain. Head to the base of the

Mountain, an excavation team is working there so you cannot miss it.' Parroted one of the Rumors.

Instantly Seo Hwi inserted Bukhansan Mountain into the GPS.

Master, the king said a surprise will be waiting for you there. Idiot, I don't think you were supposed to share that. And then there were screeching noises. Stop pulling my hair, and don't call me an idiot, you are the idiot.

'Surprise?' if there was anything Seo Hwi hated then it was surprises from the silly Devil who had a very dark sense of humor and loved keeping Seo Hwi in his toes.

It was almost nightfall, and he was almost 30 minutes away. He was starving but he couldn't make a stop, and that would delay him a further 15 minutes and the location was some deep in the mountain jungle.

Seo Hwi growled at the two childish Rumors in his cars, he couldn't yell at them even when they were giving him a headache with their endless screaming and chatter. He pitied them because they were souls of young adults who made the wrong choices.

'Silence please, I haven't had food or sleep or shower in a day. So, sit and sleep till I reach there.'

Master, you know we can't sleep.

'Then pretend to sleep or do you want to turn into fairy dust?

And then there was silence till the Jeep rolled into a dirt road, there were no more streetlamps. But the well-used dirt road led deep into the base of the mountain. Even with the high beam on, Seo Hwi soon found the road was suspicious, it was pouring and still, he had good control on the Jeep. Did the military build this road for the excavation team, if so then it won't be easy to deal with them because whenever the government was involved Seo Hwi had to use his brain and he hated to work harder than he should. He was already dealing with Demons so why did he have to deal with Humans too.

Seo Hwi took the jeep off-road and hid it behind a bunch of huge bushes away from the sight of anyone who would be going on the road. He hopped off and pulled on his hoodie, luckily, he was in boots. He couldn't carry any weapon if the government was involved but he didn't need a physical weapon, he just had to cut himself and he would have a whole arsenal at his disposal.

A beam of light came from closer to the base of the Mountain, Seo Hwi couldn't risk using any kind of illumination so ordered the Rumors that magically could light the way for him but wouldn't be visible for anyone else.

After a lot of stumbling, cursing, and scratching through bushes Seo Hwi came into an opening. Maybe because of the downpour, no one was within the vicinity.

After a more careful look, Seo Hwi noticed the lights were directed at an opening in the mountain base.

'How original,' muttered Seo Hwi as the rain-drenched him more and more with every second, he stood staring at the opening that looked like the beginning of every horror movie.

In a moment like a lethal cat, Seo Hwi blended with the little shadows that led to the opening.

'Go ahead and check if someone is inside.' Whispered Seo Hwi at the Rumors.

Cannot, we cannot. We will be dragged back to hell. The Rumors disappeared fearing that Seo Hwi would order them to investigate ahead of him.

He was so smacking them back to hell next time. Luckily, the cave was well illuminated by whoever was excavating but unluckily he could also walk into anyone inside.

The cave was deep probably going to the center of the mountain, and he felt that it was heading more closer to the center of Earth. It was a silly ideology that hell was at the center of Earth, but Magnum was definitely like hell. Knowing the Devil Seo Hwi wouldn't be surprised one of the portals was through the center of Earth itself for anyone who dared.

CLANK! A sound rang, echoing from ahead of him.

'Fuck,' another echo, vibrated through him. It was the voice of a man, a man whom he hadn't heard from or seen in a long time.

Seo Hwi headed towards the noise without wasting a second, his heartbeat racing. He didn't know if it was excitement or fear, but he wanted to see the ended of this quickly.

The cave that had been dug through straight but suddenly he met a fork, three more now dimly lit passages further into or maybe now beneath the mountain. He could feel the increase in pressure and lack of oxygen. The raindrops, mixed with sweat rolled down his back.

Clank! Another loud noise echoed and instantly Seo Hwi took the left passage running.

'Ah...' said the man in front of him, who had his back to Seo Hwi.

It's him, what the hell. 'Master, the king said a surprise will be waiting for you there. Idiot, I don't think you were supposed to share that.' The words rang in his mind.

'Stop that,' Seo Hwi yelled and ran to pull the man away from the portal he was awakening from whatever he was doing.

The man didn't respond, even as Seo Hwi pulled him away from the portal and into his arms.

A loud ringing noise rang through the little cave, the Portal had been awoken. Seo Hwi quickly bit his thump and sprayed his blood onto the portal and cursed it shut all while holding the man.

He was furious at the man who was right now focused and staring at his face.

'You...'

'Yes, me! You couldn't find another job?' Seo Hwi grunted at him
