5. 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧

16 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 2020

It was just past noon and Zara was sat in a restaurant facing her younger brother who was stuffing his face with pancakes.

"Slow down Jackie or else you'll choke." The older sibling said as she watched her brother with a smile. The young boy was excited to get out the house as he'd been cooped up inside per their father's instruction. The Austrian still thought that his daughter was sick so he'd asked Jack to take it easy on her, which included staying indoors so that Zara wouldn't have to go outside to supervise.

But his plan to make them stay inside caused problems for Zara. The little boy was very energetic and only calmed down when she switched on F1TV to watch the Spanish GP qualifying. That created another problem as the young boy proved to be very observant as he called out his sister for cheering on the "bad guys", aka Redbull. Which led her to a cute cafe overlooking the harbour, an attempt to bribe the little one with his favorite food. She could have made them herself but the little rascal demanded to go to the restaurant by the sea as he called it.
She'd made Susie aware of the child's actions. The Scottish woman couldn't help but laugh before helping Zara bargain with her brother. She's made sure that Jack told her the full story of their day, getting all the information out of his system therefore he would no longer be excited to share the information with Toto as he hated repeating himself.

Now to seal the deal Zara took him out for his treat before they would return home to watch the race. She took a sip of her pink lemonade before turning her attention back to her phone. She'd been texting Max throughout the day, checking in on him and hyping him up for a few race. If only her dad could see her now, he'd cry at the betrayal.

"Zara? Oh my gosh it is you."
The blonde turned around to be faced with a girl with dirty blonde hair who looked eerily similar to her boyfriend. Looking at her eyes it all finally clicked, this was Victoria, Max's younger sister.

"HI. Victoria right?" The Verstappen girl almost fainted when one of her idols called her by her name. She was shocked that she knew who she was but knowing that she was dating her brother, it made sense for her to know about her.

"Yes that's me. I see you're having a little lunch before the race."
"Of course, I get so into it that I forget to eat sometimes and I had to get this little one out the house." She said pointing her finger at her younger brother.

"Trust me, I understand. I'm only here to satisfy these pregnancy cravings."
"Oh wow, congratulations. Do you want to join us? We have more than enough room."
The Dutch girl nodded, not only was she tired but she wanted to chat to the new woman in her brother's life.

"Just so you know, Max told me everything about you two and I'm honestly so happy for you guys. I can already see how happy he is with you."
The blonde blushed a deep red, which her brother couldn't help but point out. At this she remembered that he was sitting there and that he was still in the age group where he repeated everything he heard, which meant he could probably snitch on her to her dad. She quickly handed him his iPad and headphones to keep him occupied.

The two girls found themselves chatting for at least an hour while they ate, only stopping when Jack complained that he was sleepy and needed the loo.
At this point they laughed at the toddler's pouty face and exchanged numbers as they waited for the bill to arrive.

"Look Zara, I really like you. And I know my brother is starting to fall for you and honestly so are you, if the way you speak about him says anything. I'm just warning you that Max might find it difficult to share his thoughts and feelings with you because our dad taught him to bottle it all up and focus on racing. So please be patient with him. And if you ever feel like you are struggling just call me so I can come knock him upside the head. "
The singer nodded as she stood up to hug her new friend. Or felt good to have someone her age that knew what she was going through.
