15. 𝐋𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬

18 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥 2021

Zara and Susie were sitting in the living room waiting for the race to start. Due to Zara being heavily pregnant the two women had decided to stay back in Monaco. Susie had been fussing over the girl since she began experiencing minor contractions the night before. Knowing that her dad and boyfriend would panic if they knew, they'd opted out of telling them just yet.

"Are you still good honey? Do you need to go to the hospital yet?"
The older woman looked at her step daughter who was bouncing on an exercise ball.

"Yes I'm still good. Don't forget to call security to allow Victoria in, she's two minutes away."
The contractions had made her uncomfortable all night long, therefore she'd had very little sleep leading her to be grumpy.

ven a short afternoon nap proved to be useless as the discomfort only intensified.

A few minutes later a knock was heard on the door, indicating that Victoria had arrived. Jack, forever enthusiastic, ran to the door, Susie following him as he couldn't reach the door. She heard Jack's excited squeal as he saw baby Luca. The few times that they'd interacted the two young boys formed a brotherly like bond, Jack always wanted a baby brother and little Luca was fascinated by the older boy's enthusiasm.

"Hey gorgeous mama. How are you?" Victoria stepped into the living room, trying not to giggle at the sight of Zara. Her hair was up in a messy bun, she was only in a sports bra and spandex due to the heat and she was sipping her water with a scowl on her face. She was glaring at the TV screen as she watched the drama unfold. Hearing Victoria's voice she turned and gave the blonde a smile.

"Hey girlie. I'm hanging in there. Little miss Emilia thinks it's cute to stress mommy, trying to come out earlier than planned."
The women laughed as Zara patted her bump fondly.

"Well you know bouncing on an exercise ball will only encourage her even more."

"Thank you! I've been telling her that since this morning."

"Well it's the only comfortable seating option. Besides my water already broke."

"WHAT!?"
Both Susie and Victoria were shocked at the news. Zara hadn't mentioned her water breaking.

"Calm down my contractions are still mild and according to my doctor it's normal for your water to break long before you have to give birth. I might just end up being in labour for more than 36 hours, I mean it's already over 12 hours soo..."
The European pop singer was calm as she knew that being stressed during this time would not help her in any way.

Yet her plan to stay calm was ruined by the multiple incidents happening on the track. From Lewis and Max having contact in the first lap, to Mazepin bumping into Nicholas and of course Lewis going into the gravel trap. These all made her heart race a little more than usual yet when she saw George and Valterri coming together and spinning off the track she almost had a heart attack. Both of them were her friends, therefore she was very worried about them and it showed as she gasped.

"Oh my! Are they ok? Why are neither of them getting out their cars?"
She was panicking and seeing her distress, Susie pulled her into a hug trying to calm her down.

"Breathe Zara. See they're both fine. Look George's out of his car, he's even giving Valterri a smack on the helmet."
Susie felt Zara's body relax, only for her to wince a few seconds later.

"I think that fright just made my contractions worse."
The girl said through gritted teeth. She'd experienced a rather sharp and long contraction. She knew this meant it was only about to get worse.
