Max was beyond pissed. His father was currently on the phone, chewing him out for his recent performances on the track. Zara, who'd come over that morning, sat silently on the couch, watching her boyfriend pace in front of her and occasionally making a crude gesture towards the phone on the table.

"And don't think that I don't know that you lied to me about being at the factory a few weeks ago. Is this all because of that Wolff girl!? You're seriously going to let a little pop diva, who is Toto Wolff's spawn, to derail you from your goals this season!? "
Jos was known for living vicariously through Max. So far no one, including his son, had stood up to him, often allowing him to say emotionally damaging things to the young driver.

Until Zara. She would not allow him to emotionally abuse Max any longer. And of course he pissed her off with his comment about her. She wasn't a pop diva, she was way bigger than that.
Before Max could stop her.

"With all due respect sir, none of this is Max's fault. Redbull and Honda have failed to provide a competitive car this year. And although he hadn't been in the points for the last two races, your son has brought in the most points for his team this year. The entire team is relying on him which is very unfortunate as they are not helping the situation with their second driver. And if we're being honest you should be proud of your son because he has achieved more than you ever did in your entire career. Oh and another thing, I'm not a pop diva, I'm a pop princess. "

With that the room went silent. Max was shocked that someone had finally stood up to his dad, something even his mother failed to do. Jos on the other hand was experiencing mixed emotions. He was angry that she'd shut him down so easily but was also happy that his son found someone who was invested in his career and was willing to defend him. He was also slightly embarrassed that she'd heard what he'd said about her.

"Well, uhm, son I'll call you later."
"Actually I think this conversation is done. Bye dad."
He roughly pressed the end call icon.

"Thank you for that."
He whispered as he pulled Zara in for a hug.

"It was nothing, I know how it feels to have people breathing down your neck about things that are out of your control."
Zara had experienced backlash under her old record label as fans felt that the music she was releasing at the time was not written by her and it did not fit her character. They were correct as the label refused to allow her to write her own music, wanting to push a certain image. Luckily she was able to get out of the hellish contract after two years.

"Well now that we have dealt with that, do you want to explain to me why your dad, Lewis and Valterri were sending me death stares last week."
"OK so don't be mad. But last week I missed my period and Susie panicked. My dad was trying to calm her down when she let it slip that we'd been sleeping together. She didn't tell him that we were actually seeing each other."

Once again Max was shocked, there was a lot of information to take in.

" Wait so your dad somewhat knows about us. And you might be pregnant!? "
" Yes to both. "
" Have you taken a pregnancy test? " Max was scared, not because he did not want to be a father but because Lewis and Valterri would probably ram him off the track.

" No. I've been too scared and busy to take one. And I had some light spotting yesterday so my period will probably be here tomorrow."
"But don't you want to be sure?"
"I mean if it's going to stop you from panicking then I've got one in my toiletry bag."
The Austrian girl had avoided the plastic sti l for a week, despite Susie's constant begging for her to take the test. Max gently led her to the bathroom and told her he'd wait outside the bathroom while she peed on the stick.
