Fiona felt on edge this morning. Not that she hadn't for the past months but something tingled inside her. Was it anxiety? No, she knew how that felt. It was a sign, she felt deep down. Wrapped around her thoughts she could hear the angry calls from her mother.
Fiona Rae Alexander was an interesting girl. She was simple with only one talent in her own mind, but she didn't know that. There's much more that she doesn't know. Secrets, lies, and romance to be discovered. Fiona's blonde hair hung to her knees. Her light blue eyes glistened with tears that traced her olive skin. Her purple sweater clung to her skin in the hot summer weather, but she didn't care. It was a sense of security. She's very small in height, only five feet tall. Her body weight was another story.
"Are you ignoring me?" Fiona's mother, Mary, demanded. Fiona shook uncontrollably. Though her mother and she fought sometimes, it hadn't been this bad. "Fiona, I'm so sick of you and your attitude!" she added. Fiona fiddled with the ends of her hair, angry thoughts caved at her. She wouldn't dare cuss her mother out, even if it was in German. Mary slammed her hands on the counter, making Fiona jump.
"Get out," Mary mumbled, not loud enough for Fiona to hear. Fiona tilted her head in confusion, wondering what her mother said. Mary noticed her confusion, only upsetting her more. "Get out!" She yelled at her daughter, wanting to retract her words. Fiona swallowed her tears down and jogged out of the house. Impending anxiety and feelings of rage, sadness, and anger swarmed to her poor traumatized mind. Fiona dragged her shoes against the pavement, tears washing down her face.
The crips air blew around her taking her falling tears. The humidity made her feel claustrophobic in her panic. She held herself closely, seeing as she had nobody at this time. She thought to call her dad but quickly brushed the thought aside, afraid to contact him. She continued to walk down her street, dragging her feet. She knew the library was right up the road, she could relax there for a little while. Just when she was about to yank her earbuds out of her pocket a car came whirling around the corner. She recognized the car right away. Jayden Deckland. She shyly stood in place, waiting for the car to stop.
"Hey, Baby," Jayden said to her, rolling down the window. Fiona had to hold back the need to gag. She hated Jayden, inside and out. He's traumatized her and makes her insecurities worse. "Come on, get inside Ashlynn," he said. Jayden licked his lips, trying to act sexy. Fiona shook her head, resisting his orders.
"No," She mumbled. Jayden felt his anger grow, he controlled her. She had to be his new Ashlynn. She's his bitch. She killed his love. "Please leave me alone," Fiona added, in a low voice. A small amount of confidence rose in her. She was stuck in this Jayden situation, but now she's fighting. Just like she used to.
"Excuse you, Ashlynn! I own you!" Jayden yelled. Fiona stepped back, frightened of what happened. Part of her wanted to plead for forgiveness, but it may have been that weird feeling that kept her from it. "Do you want to be punished?" He replied in a low growl.
"I get what I've done," she started. Nothing was her fault. She blamed herself. "I know what I did," false, completely false. "Please, Jayden. Leave me be for right now. I know you still have some of a heart," Fiona said. A tear came out, begging for this to be over. Even if it was just for an hour. Jayden groaned, accepting the plead.
"This won't happen next time, blondie," He cooed, speeding off into the distance. Fiona took a deep breath in relief. It was a break from her horror, for a little while. She continued to drag her feet down the road entering the library. Something still felt off about her. Her phone sat heavy in her pocket and she totally forgot about her music.
Arriving at the library she shuffled to the back, grasping a random book. She wasn't going to read it but just in case someone questioned her. It was late August, so she couldn't pretend to do homework. She slid to the back and slumped onto a huge bean bag. There was nobody inside the library just a librarian. She laid there, about to plug in her headphones when she got a message alert. She sighed and opened the message alert thinking it was Jayden. It wasn't. It was her father. The one that ghosted her for eight months, and didn't explain why. She wasn't that upset about it. She had found out a week ago he was on vacation. What could her father possibly want? She pulled up her father's contact name, Paul Alexander. She looked at her Dad's message and was stunned. She typed back and quickly he responded.
Paul Alexander
Where are you right now, Fiona? Why isn't your mother answering my texts or calls? Why isn't she letting me inside? Is everything okay?
The library down the road? What are you doing here, Dad?
Be there in 5 minutes.
Okay...
Fiona was left stunned and annoyed. She felt anxious and suddenly that weird feeling she had all day, vanished. It was replaced by anxiety. She felt her breath quicken as every wrong possibility came to her head. This wasn't normal. Paul always told her when he was going to visit. Fiona balled herself into a little ball. Tears floated down her face, scared of what was happening. The tears fell, and fell, and fell. Her breath quickened getting more rapid at the second. She was unwell, and she knew it. Fiona was deeply afraid he knew her secrets. She wanted to stand up and go to the restroom, but her legs just couldn't work. She had to stay there. She was stuck trapped in the dark shadows of her mind.
Fiona was left alone in the back corner of the library begging for it to be over. She wanted to scream to stop it all. Time clicked away. She knew she had to mask it all momentarily, and she wanted to. Fiona tried to calm herself down, but it didn't work. She didn't have the comfort. Her earbuds sat heavy in her hands. She jammed them into her phone and ears, fumbling through the music. Looking for her comfort in that one song. That one simple song. She lost herself for a moment before her phone vibrated. It was to mask and forget her comfort.
