Chapter 3

A girl no older than 16 was taken and thrown out of a broken window. I guess they were very impatient people...beasts. A middle aged woman was grabbed and tugged past us. She was the last one and I couldn't help smile a very small smile of relief. I hugged my sister tight feeling the relief wash through her too. Then the alpha beast froze and turned towards us.

My eyes opened wide when a small unusually sly smile started on its face. The middle aged woman was pushed into a seat on top of a couple. She scrambled further onto them and they grabbed her away from the beasts.

My stomach was churning in fear again when they walked slowly towards us. My sister whimpered and was grabbed by the beast. She screamed and held onto my hands. I strained as the beast pulled. It was a deadly game of tug-a-war and I just couldn't let go. The beast chuckled very deeply. It was a very loud and deep noise, like from the very back of the chest. Unnatural.

Julia was screaming and tears were rolling down her face. Our hands were getting very sweaty from the fear. I couldn't help it. Our hands slipped and she was yanked into the arms of the alpha. I cried out in pain when she was carried away. I looked around me trying to find something to stop them with.

I spied my sister's mobile on the floor. The screen was black and cracked. Probably broke when the bus lurched. I picked it up and threw it at the beast. It is the alpha male on the back of the head. I smiled in victory but my face fell when he turned around with fury set in his face like a message carved in stone.

I stumbled from my seat and stood strongly in the isle. I glared at him. I was half his height at least. No wonder the beast was hunched and his knees were bent a lot.

"Let her go!" I hissed confidently.

"No we need 8." The alpha male growled.

"But you have the bus driver, that equals 8." I said hopefully remembering the driver.

"We need 8 women." He added with an evil smile.

I sobbed and my face paled when I thought of my only option to saving my sister.

"Take me instead." I whispered.

The beasts eyes widened, his animal hearing had come in use. "What?" he growled.

I coughed. "Take me...instead." I said louder. The passengers gasped at my courage. And all to save my little sister.

"Fine!" The alpha said throwing Julia at me. I pulled her off the ground.

She had tears in her eyes and she looked lost. "Don't do this Hayley; don't lose your life for mine." But I knew because we were sisters that she didn't want to die. She had a life that had only just begun, I had no one.

"Shh, Julia. I love you, sis, nothing will ever change that. You have a life. A life with Mike, you'll get married and have lots of babies. And will you promise to name one after me." I said trying to make her laugh. Instead she sobbed loudly and erupted into more tears.

I was now aware of the many eyes strained on me. "Time to go!" The alpha said pulling me from Julia. She cried out in pain again because we would never see each other.

I smiled a loving smile at her and walked to the door. The passengers smiled at me. They thought I was a hero, saving my sister from the wrath of these creatures.

I was pushed out of the broken door and into the freezing night air. I had never been so frightened in my life. I have never felt so much pain and sorrow. But I was happy to do it for my little sis.
