Chapter 26:

Holly’s P.O.V (the doctor)

His lips touched mine and I sighed. His lips were tender and perfect against mine as they moved in sync. I let my eyes flutter closed in content and just let myself go with the flow. Something like this only happens in fairytales, this can’t be happening to silly old me. This guy was hot, seriously perfect and he was picking a girl like me when he could probably get a model or something. He’s even good enough for royalty; hell he’s good enough to be royalty.

Conner was so different from any guy I have ever dated, not that a little kiss meant we were dating. He wasn’t up himself, he wasn’t pretending to be someone and he was staying at the hospital for a friend so he has to be kind. Conner was so perfect, the guy that any girl would get down on her knees and pray for; but why was this happening to me.

I pulled away from him, biting my lip so I didn’t kiss him again. His eyes were shining brightly when they opened and colour had risen to his cheeks. “Is everything okay?” he said huskily. I shivered from the sound.

“Um, no.” he looked at me quizzically. “I just met you and I’m kissing you.”

“Yeah, what’s wrong with that? Unless you don’t like kissing me…”

“No, I love kissing you, seriously. I would kiss you every minute of every day if I could but…” Conner laughed and patted my knee, “I just don’t think we should be moving so quickly. Maybe we should go on a date first before we think about locking lips.”

“I’m willing to take it slow, just as long as I’m with you.” Conner blushed darker and looked away.

I smiled at his corniness, finding it cute and flattering. I grabbed his chin turning his head and pressing my lips to his for a few seconds. “That sounds wonderful. How about we grab a coffee. I know this little 24 hour diner in-” I was cut off by my pager. Conner and I sighed in unison in disappointment. I pulled it out and read the small message. I was shocked. “Come with me, something happened with Hayley.”

Seth’s P.O.V

I left the room; the second day of freedom in a month. It felt nice to walk about, to eat something more than vending machine chips and chocolate. It was also nice when everyone went out for lunch. We didn’t have any money with us but Alisha offered to pay when she cleverly packed her wallet full of credit cards. I didn’t really like all the fast foods; I was used to the healthy, natural food provided by our pack farming. All there greasy burgers and chips were crap.

But now we were back in the hospital, impatiently waiting for Hayley’s awakening. It’s been so long and I missed her voice so much. I was empty and emotionless ever since the second week of being here. I knew in order to keep Hayley and our baby safe I had to leave them and let them go back to her family. I was going to miss her so much I had only just found my soul mate and now I was losing her. Everything that has happened was my entire fault. I ruined so many lives, I stole people from their homes and families and I couldn’t save my pack.

All the woman had disappeared because I wasn’t strong enough to save them, I couldn’t save the one thing that meant so much to me. And now I was losing everything I loved for their safety. I was strong enough to survive the pain; I will lead my pack to victory and maybe just maybe the women are still alive. I was going to be the strongest I possibly can for my pack; I was going to be a better leader, a better Alpha, a better person and a better pack. People can forget Hayley, it wasn’t their mate; but she was mine… I walked up to the free coffee machine and poured myself a cup.

I needed something strong to wake me up. I have been having trouble sleeping ever since I first arrived here with Hayley. It might have been affecting by the uncomfortable waiting chairs or the fact that the time here as been long and irritating with no further progress, but most of all it has been painful. The fact that when Hayley wakes up I have to tell her that she is pregnant and then tell her I am leaving her. But at least she’ll be allowed to go back to her family. I just have to make her promise that she won’t tell anyone of our existence.
