Chapter 12
I ignored his question and walked carefully and quietly around the room.
“I never knew there were kids.” I talked.
“Well there are.” He said with attitude. What’s stuck up his ass?
I walked up to one of the cribs and put my hands on the smooth wood. These were crafted well, I had never seen something so beautiful. There were unusual and admirable carvings on the wood. Small prancing wolves lined the wood bars. These were so creative that just one of these cribs would be priceless. You would expect to see this in ancient times because you wouldn’t expect to see this now days. I guess these people work with what they’ve got.
And inside the crib on some leather and blankets was a baby. I guess all these kids were two years and older because the woman disappeared after would. The baby stirred and gurgled quietly. How beautiful. I leant in and brushed my fingers over the baby’s cheek. The cheek was so warm and soft. I had never felt anything like it. It was unbelievable. The baby was wearing a little light green suit. Wear were they getting all this stuff from.
The baby’s eyes opened and I saw a crystal blue colour. The baby blinked and then scrunched up its face. A short but powerful wail was sounded and I reacted quickly. I guess it was a hidden mother instinct. I leant in and picked up the baby making sure I moved slowly and cradling the head and body the right way. I held the baby against my chest and his head rested on my shoulder. He giggled slightly and then his breathing began to even out. I rubbed his back and cooed soft words to him.
“I don’t believe it.” Seth said standing up from the chair. He looked amazed and slightly confused. I turned to look at him making sure I didn’t upset the baby. “He has been waking up none stop all tonight and I haven’t been able to get him to sleep that quickly. How did you do that?”
“Maybe all that he needed was a woman’s touch.” I said with a smile.
He laughed and I blushed. I loved his laugh. Oh, God. I am whipped. When I heard the babies soft snores I placed him gently back in the bed. The baby rolled slightly and opened his eyes. I smiled sweetly at the baby and he sighed and went back to sleep. Awww, how adorable.
“God I wish I was a woman.” He wondered.
I covered my mouth with my hand to stifle a laugh. Oh, my god I can’t believe he just said that. “Ah, no you don’t.” I answered back.
“And why not?” he said strolling over to me casually. I wanted to be closer to him so I didn’t step back.
“Because you don’t want to go through what women go through. You don’t want periods, period pains, mood swings, the worst one is that you’re constantly crying, cravings, pregnancy, throwing up, labour, motherhood. Do you want me to continue?” I put my hand on my hip and stared into his eyes; kind of getting lost in the moment.
“I take back what I said.” He chuckled. I blushed again. Why do I keep doing that. Jeeze if all this blood keeps rushing to my head I won’t have enough for my legs. I would fall over and humiliate myself, and I would probably just blush from the embarrassment. GOD!!
I giggled and continued to gaze. “I need to tell you something.” We said in unison. We laughed awkwardly and I blushed. There I go again, I swear I wobbled. Seth rubbed the back of his neck and looked at the floor.
“You go first.” We said in unison. I blushed harder. “You go.” I added before he could say anything.
“Ok, well...umm...you know before…how we kissed and…all. Well…I thought you might want an explanation.” He stammered but rushed out. He looked really nervous.
