Chapter 7

It was silent when I walked in from the sleeping chamber half an hour later. It had taken me a long time just to calm down enough to see Seth’s face again.  He was accusing me of such things that I couldn’t believe. And he had done worse by bring us down here. They just have to have mates. I guess it is for reproduction but they could show just one leg in my city and tens of millions of woman will stumble after them. And then they would need their super speed to escape my city. Woman can be so predictable.

All eyes were on me and I searched the circle of people for a space. And I spied a spot in the worst possible place. Next to Seth. He was the one staring most hard at me. Like he was trying to talk to me with his eyes. It was working because my stomach did a nervous flip. I rushed to the spot hating all the attention and sat down. Everyone was eating food. And I am focusing on the WAS because everyone had stopped to stare. I was getting more and more nervous by the second.

Seth coughed loudly next to me and everyone went back to their eating and talking. A comfortable loudness came which made me drop all of my worries. Everything was ok now, except for the beast sitting next to me. I felt a tap on my shoulder so I turned my head. Sitting next to me was the woman who lost her baby. I really had to find out her name. She was holding out a plate full of food.

I shook my head but then I heard a low growl from next to me. Apparently alpha wants me to eat. How thoughtful, not. He is just ordering me around like all the rest of his little mutts. The lonely woman smiled and I gratefully took the plate. I stared down at the food. There was meat but I wasn’t sure which kind, there was a potato and some carrots with a corn on the cob. Wow, we are in the middle of nowhere and they know how to grow these foods. I am really surprised and strangely proud.

I began to eat and I swear I could feel Seth’s eyes burning a hole into the side of my head. Once I had finished my meal I pushed the plate away. I turned my body to face the alpha who, as I said, was staring at me intently.

“What’s your problem?” I asked folding my arms over my chest. The talking noise had died down a bit just so some of them could hear our conversation.

“I just wanted to say sorry….you know….for before. I didn’t mean to falsely accuse you it’s just…” he ran a shaky hand through his hair. “We lost all of our women and these people are all that I have left. I can’t lose them, Hayley. They are my life and they depend on me to bring them back. I can’t let them down. I had to do what I did to save my kind from extinction.”

I nodded in understanding. He was just doing the right thing for his people. Wait what am I thinking. They stole us from our families. I shouldn’t forgive them so quickly. ‘But what if you give them a chance.’ My mind argued.

But what if they are the animals they are. What if we never see our families again? I can’t just start and give up; I can’t let down MY people.

‘Come on, Hayley. Stop being so God damn stubborn. Give them a chance and see where that leads, if it doesn’t work out go on hating the mutts. You never know they may come to trust you enough to let you visit your family.’ The voice said convincingly. I considered it for a second.

OK, but if everything goes downhill I am blaming you.

‘Good going, blame yourself, burn!’ the voice laughed. I ignored it and went back to the conversation.

“No, I understand. But we are alone, and you are selfish. I stand by my points. You stole us away so you could have a life. Didn’t you think that we had a life?” I stopped and waited for a reply. It never came but guilt was shown on a huge amount of Seth’s face. “I don’t think I can ever trust you or your kind, but I can I try and make my group trust. They believe me and what I say. Like I am alpha of my group. They follow my orders because they a lost without a leader. So I am giving you and your kind a major chance. If you fuck it up, we go home.”

Seth considered it for a moment. HE sighed loudly and the room was quieting to a whisper. I glared at everybody for eavesdropping. They didn’t look like they would listen to me; they were listening for their alphas order.

Seth inhaled deeply and looked deep into my eyes. “Agreed.”

We smiled together and the room erupted in cheers and wolf whistles. How convenient. I smiled even wider. Even the group looked happy. I think the fact that they could be home soon made it a lot easier to be here. As for me I only had my dad and my sis. My dad doesn’t want to see me because I reminded him of my mother and I didn’t want to see him because he was a mean drunk. My sister. Yeah we will be inseparable but she has her own life, and I don’t regret my decision of letting her go. She has a fiancé and she is most likely going to have children. And what do I have? No one. My life is meaningless in this world. I might as well stay here. I could always learn more about the blue beasts. It would be like University all over again but on a whole new level.

Seth stood up and pulled me up with him. “This causes for a celebration.” He whispered to me. He let go of my hands which tingled without his warmth. Seth stood away from me with a sly smile on his face. He cupped his hands and put them to his mouth shouting, “PARTY!!!”

Everyone screamed and shouted. I laughed along with everyone. I suddenly heard some music. I looked towards the noise. Someone had raided the suitcases and found someone’s iPod and portable dock. Loud music blared from the tiny machine. Some music I had never heard in a long time but still great music. It had a wild rock and roll beat and everyone way dancing wildly.

This all seemed like a normal party if it wasn’t for the rock walls and wolf beasts dancing around me. I sighed but started to dance. I might as well. It’s not every day that you dance with werewolves.

Sorry that it was extremely short but I didn’t know what else to put in.
