"Please Amelia, what is going on between you and Noah?" Esme asked. The three of us (Sasha, Esme, and I) stood next to Amelia's locker. She had come home crying a few days ago, after hanging out with Noah. Then, she spent the recent days avoiding him at all costs. We all knew something was up. Esme had already asked Noah, but he wouldn't spill the beans either.
"Nothing, okay? Stop asking, guys." Amelia slammed her locker shut with a loud bang.
"No," Esme stated, as she blocked her exit. We all surrounded her. "Something is clearly up, so tell us right now or I'm going to set up a little get together. That means you and Noah. At Shakelicious, to talk this out, with me as a mediator. You don't want that, do you?"
Amelia sighed and shook her head. "Fine, fine. I'll tell you. But first, why have you been going on dates with Connor?"
Silence.
"Repeat that?" Esme asked, looking confused. "What do you mean I've been going on dates? With Connor?"
"Noah saw you two the other day,," Amelia reported. "He said you were in 'like' with Connor." Esme's mouth fell open as Sasha and I glanced at each other.
"I don't know what he saw or said that's making you act weird, but I was just helping him with some Spanish homework. He didn't take the language back in New York."
Amelia bit her lip uncomfortably. "Just helping? Or flirting too?"
Esme's eyes narrowed. "What are you accusing me of?"
"Flirting with Connor, hanging out with him without telling me. You know what, I don't even know what I'm accusing you of," Amelia cried out. "Everything is so messed up. Noah said he liked me which is so new and strange. But I think I like someone else! And then you..."
Esme flipped her hair over her shoulders. "You like Connor, don't you? He's not your belonging. Do I need to report to you every time I see him? Just choose a guy. Stop playing with everyone's hearts. You've done this forever and I hate it."
"Woah, calm down, you two. You both have reasonable arguments, but first, Noah admitted his feelings to you?" Sasha cut in.
"Yeah," Amelia swallowed. "When we went to watch that movie."
