Why did Emmie say bye to Spencer? What did it mean? Why? Why? Why?
So many questions flooded my mind.
"I'm... I'm going to go." I put my palm on my forehead and stood up. I caught all my friends' worried glances, but ignored them. Spencer opened his mouth to say something but was interrupted.
"I'll come with you. We can talk about Kiki another time," Amelia grabbed my arm and followed me out the door. When I got home, I got a surprising message from Gabe. He asked for me to go over to his house for something.
"What's up?" I asked twenty minutes later, after Gabe opened the door.
Gabe swept a hand through his hair. "So, um, I never got to thank you for giving my bat back. Would you... want to hang out with me sometime? Just us?"
I blinked. "Um... I have a boyfriend." Why was he asking me? Didn't he know I took his bat in the first place?
"Haha, no. I meant as friends. Not like a date, you know? Emmie's kind of on to me about gratitude or whatever," he chuckled.
Emmie put him up to this?
I looked down. "It's okay."
"Well, this is the least I can do then," he smiled. Suddenly, his hand met mine and I was pulled towards him.
Wait, stop, I thought. But it was too late, Gabe's lips were on mine.
What. The. Heck.
It was such a quick peck I couldn't even do anything to stop him. I just stood there, frozen. When I finally fully realized what had happened, I pulled away and almost fell backwards.
"Oh, sorry," Gabe said, attempting to grab my arm before I could trip. I regained my balance and stared at him.
"I said," I repeated. "I have a boyfriend. Why did you..."
"My bad." It was obvious he didn't mean it though.
He was unbelievable. Was this another game "Kiki" was playing?
