"Lauren, do you know what happened to my navy sweatshorts?" I peaked my head into Lauren's room, the evening of my movie "date" with Noah. She was lying on her bed, watching videos on her laptop.

"Uh, no. Maybe it's in the washer? Why?" she responded.

"I need it. I'm hanging out with Noah and it's my favourite shorts," I sighed. "Thanks anyways."

"Noah? You guys are friends again?" she sing-songed.

"Shut up," I said with a laugh, before closing the door and heading back to my room.

Thirty minutes later, the bell rang. Lauren and I walked out of our rooms at the same time.

"I'll get it. I'm sure it's Noah. Make a grand entrance or something," she giggled, rushing downstairs. I rolled my eyes and flattened the dress I had chosen, my heart beating faster and faster.

This was Noah, I thought. Why am I so nervous?

"Amelia!" Noah called out, when I walked down. He took a moment to take in my outfit. "You look great. Really."

"Of course she does," Lauren giggled, pushing me closer to Noah.

"Okay, well, let's go."

I followed him outside to his Jeep. Yes, while I was away, Noah got his licence. The ride was pretty quick, only five minutes away. He parked and opened the door for him.

"Such a gentleman," I laughed, patting him on his shoulder.

"Always, for you," he whispered, so it was barely audible. Maybe I just imagined it. Noah wasn't the type to get sappy and sweet like that.

We bought some snacks and walked into the theatre, chatting about a singer that we both really liked. We found two seats near the middle.

"So what's new in the world of Amelia?" he asked me, eating some of the popcorn.

"Not much. I don't have anything exciting. What about you?"

Noah's answer was the same. "Do you think we... we kind of don't know each other that well anymore?"

"No, not at all. There's just nothing exciting that happens around here," I said. I didn't want to admit it but Noah was right. We didn't talk and hang out as easily as we used to. We used to do everything together as a group. Noah, Esme, and I. And... our other friend but we don't talk about her ever since she moved far, far away.

He chuckled, "Well, after the movie, maybe we'll have more inside secrets."

I hoped so.
