*Jimin's pov
|18th of February|
It felt suffocating. Having all the information they've got their hands on in front of him but not being able to make a certain connection was driving Jimin mad.
Something was surely slipping off his fingers, but he couldn't place his hands on it.
The more time he spent in the office, the smaller the room became, the walls were getting closer and closer, the cold air of the room was freezing Jimin's brain, and it was getting harder to think with each passing minute.
Luckily, Jimin's frenzy has been disturbed by a knock on the door. It was Namjoon.
Jimin sighed.
He entered the office excitedly as if he was about to bring great news. Jimin didn't want false expectations, so he raised one eyebrow suspiciously.
"Jimin." Namjoon took a seat in front of Jimin's desk and crossed his arms confidently. "Inspector Kim called me and he assigned us a special case. He said the deadline for us to decide whether we'll take it or not is tomorrow." He dropped a file on Jimin's desk and waited, eyes begging for Jimin to accept it already.
"What case? And why do we have a choice?" Jimin raised his eyebrow suspiciously, again. It was unusual for Inspector Kim to ask them if they are willing to agree to a case before assigning it. The cases are usually assigned directly, depending on certain circumstances.
"Namjoon, we are already busy with the most recent case, and we are deeply buried in shit with it, why would I want a new headache?"
Namjoon averted his eyes around the room. "This is not about him, alright?"
Jimin smiled knowingly. "Mhm. It surely is not."
"Look, he asked us because he believes only we are capable of doing it. And I kind of want to prove him right. We are more than capable to solve whatever is to come. If not us, then who?"
Jimin rolled his eyes tiredly, leaning in his chair. He felt a headache starting to cover his temples.
Namjoon was.. a bit too attached to Inspector's Kim presence, to say so. But he was smart, and would not accept a case unless he is excited about the case as well.
Jimin started massaging his own temples. "If you say this is not a personal matter, then I will consider it."
"You know me better than that."
Jimin nodded, an attentive expression on his face. He was getting curious. "Please hand me a file with the summary of the case. I'll take a look over it and let you know if we can handle it or not."
Namjoon agrees, sharing a confident smile with Jimin. "Just for the record, the case has been sent by the CIA. They wanted a partnership with our office, they need our help. It's... exciting."
Jimin's face morphed the moment he heard the word. "What? The CIA? A partnership with us? How in the world is this possible?"
Namjoon sighed, placing another file on Jimin's desk. "I wanted to let you go through it yourself, but... I guess I could make a summary now." He skipped a few papers until he reached a certain list with names.
"It appears that the police didn't accept the case, because the government won't let them get that involved with the CIA. They have a point though. But we have all the resources to accept the deal. A great amount of money is involved, and... there's nothing illegal about it. It is just risky. The case has already reached the media partly... some information has already been leaked to the public, you might have seen it on the news." Namjoon explained carefully, trying not to overwhelm Jimin.
