Jimin's pov

Jimin stopped mid-sentence the moment his friend choked on his tea and started coughing chaotically as if surprised by the mention of Yoongi's name. Jimin didn't remember ever mentioning him to Taehyung, so it caught him off guard.

"Tae? Oh my God, are you alright?" He quickly moved beside him and slapped his back a couple of times. "What happened?"

Taehyung's eyes were red and filled with tears from the sudden obstruction of air, but he nodded before managing to reply, trying to reassure Jimin. After he finally caught his breath, he managed to lift his head and reply. "I'm fine, really, just the tea took the wrong path I guess..." He looked embarrassed at the situation, but Jimin calmed down a bit.

More lighthearted this time, he teased Taehyung a bit. "Just when I thought you happened to know a very good-looking Yoongi as well."

But Taehyung's eyes flickered at that, Jimin was sure he saw it, something was wrong. It wasn't the first time Taehyung acted peculiar lately, as much as Jimin wanted to brush it off, something was making him feel uncomfortable. Taehyung quickly changed his expression, replacing it with a hearty laugh. But Jimin didn't believe him completely, something was definitely off.

"I don't know a "Yoongi", Jimin, I'm just a little surprised you found interest in someone after so much time. But don't get me wrong, it is a good type of surprised ." Taehyung encouraged him with a warm look in the eye, but took Jimin's hand placed on the table into his, slowly caressing his skin. "Just... promise me... the same way you made me promise I should be careful with everyone around myself, please do the same. The enemy might strike closer than you think... who..." Taehyung looked worried, more worried than he had ever been, it almost scared Jimin. "Who knows what people are capable of nowadays. I think you put yourself in too much danger for your own good recently. Please... be careful."

Jimin understood Taehyung's concerns, he really did, but there was nothing to worry about. Jimin had never been serious about Yoongi, it was just... something to take his mind off his worries. Plus, they met through a coincidence, in a bar, Yoongi had never reached out to him, but Taehyung didn't know that, so it was only natural for him to worry.

Jimin didn't trust that easily.

"Tae, I... it is not even that serious, okay? I met him just a few times, nothing happened, I just thought I would tell you because... I missed talking about stuff like this with you..." He tried to put Taehyung's mind to rest and he appeared less tense after that.

The evening passed by eventless after that, them going in and out different topics and catching up on daily, cordial stuff. Taehyung had also explained what had happened with him and his family during the time he disappeared for a while, making Jimin feel better because even though Taehyung had a lot on his head at the moment, at least he didn't do anything dangerous.

Throughout the entire evening, Jimin remained wary as Taehyung's attention wasn't on his words all the time, eyes wandering around the lounge, inspecting people, getting lost and impatient. Jimin didn't ask him about it, he didn't mention it either, but he made a note to try to find out whether anything was wrong with him later on.
