Jimin's pov

|5th of March|

One day. It's been over one day since Jimin had managed to, ceremoniously, make a fool out of himself in front of Min Yoongi, and this had barely left his brain ever since he woke up with a horrific headache. Well, at least for as much as he could, since he woke up early in the morning, just as usual, to return to his world of mysteries.

That being said, Jimin had to admit that Yoongi made himself at home in his mind, but luckily, he had some more pressing matters he had to focus on, so he managed to push overthinking aside for a while.

He might, or might not have time for that later.

In the meantime, Namjoon helped him catch up with the information on the case. Not much had happened while he had been missing, but Jimin shared his thoughts on the code names with Namjoon, those he thought he could get from the maps, and Namjoon agreed that the lead should be taken into consideration, even though not convinced hundred percent.

With each passing hour, Jimin felt a small feeling of insecurity in his guts. He was running out of time, but he didn't know where to start. One mistake could ruin everything in a blink.

The first thing he saw after his meeting with Namjoon, was Hoseok, just as proactive as usual, with a huge smile plastered on his face. A smile that didn't reach his eyes though. He was very fun to work with, but Jimin couldn't shake the eerie feeling sometimes.

He swallowed his thoughts and met him with a smile.

Jimin approached him, but Hoseok seemed lost in his work, talking to himself while looking at some papers. The closer Jimin got, the more he realized he couldn't understand a thing Hoseok was saying. He seemed rather... agitated.

"Morning!" Jimin eventually spoke. "Everything alright?"

Other two officers in the office had their attention on Hoseok, indicating that Jimin was right. Hoseok was acting differently.

As soon as he spotted Jimin, Hoseok's eyes lit up. He gestured to Jimin to follow him in his office.

Hoseok took a seat at his desk and invited Jimin to sit in front of him, hands shaky, as if something important had happened and Jimin didn't know whether to be scared or prepare for the worst.

"I didn't want to talk about this, but I think... I am sorry Detective, I think you are the only one I could talk to about this, I wanted to keep it for myself but I feel like it is distracting me at this point." Hoseok confessed rather quickly, taking Jimin by surprise. So it wasn't related to the case.

"Hoseok, you know we are more than just work colleagues, right? We are partners, and you can always count on me." Communication was key in their team, and that's how Jimin and Namjoon managed to get that far. It wasn't easy for Jimin to keep his past aside, but whenever he needed help, Namjoon had always been there to support him with advice. Whatever was happening to Hoseok, seemed serious, and if he decided to ask for Jimin's help, he would never say no, even if it wasn't related to the case, or their work at all.

Hoseok waited for a while, searching for his words, and Jimin tried to offer him one of his reassuring smiles. "I want to tell you about this because you are the first person that comes to my mind, the first person that I think would understand why this is so important to me, why I need help. I think we both have a pass still hunting our every step."

Well, where was the lie?

He didn't know much about Hoseok, he never tried to look into him, and they have never talked outside work, but maybe Hoseok has a reason for hiding behind shadowed smiles. Jimin recognized the insecurity in his voice as if it was his.
