"I found the two men you told me about. They were easier to find than I thought. They died three months ago." I sigh rubbing my forehead. "I take it that's not what you wanted to hear." Pearl says leaning back in her chair.

"No. I- I don't know what I wanted to hear."

"You never know with Sebastian." She mutters shaking her head, she understood what it felt like to do work for him.

"Sebastian wanted these men alive. From what I understand they went missing and he wants to know why."  I tell her, and she frowns.

"They are buried right here in town. They never went missing. Or at least that's what I gathered once I talked to the families."

"Talking to the families? I never thought I would live to see the day you actually talked to a persons family." I laugh.

"They were a family friend of mine." She mutters, "Or at least the wives used to be friends of mine."

"Interesting. So how did they die?"

"Here. Take this. You might want to read it." I take the file from her hands.

The file was thick, papers crammed into it to the point papers are falling out of it. She had gathered all this information in two days. I open the files and see a mans face. It was the paper I had given her.

"Word of advice, keep this information from Sebastian."

"And trust you with it? If Sebastian cant know then why should you know? Why not just let me kill you now?"

"Because you will need me in the future. You will need someone you trust on your side." she raises her eyebrow at me, "And we both know you cant trust Sebastian."

"I trusted you once and that-"

"Correction you never trusted me. That was the reason everything went wrong for you. You trusted Sebastian and that is why you are here right now. So do yourself a favor and just trust me on this." She glances down at the file in my hands,  "I know that I took a risk in giving you that file, so don't make me regret that decision."

I nod my head getting up. I had to get out of here now or else I wouldn't get back to the palace in time. Last time I almost blew my cover. She opens another file on her desk and starts writing. I guess her spy work is never ending.

Matthew greets me in the hall with a smile, right before he wraps his arms around my waist and pulls me in for a slow kiss. I smile into the kiss and pull away. He leans his forehead against mine closing his eyes.

"I missed you." I whisper, and he chuckles.

"Miss Valarie. Mr. Matthew." Henry says from behind us. "You mind telling me what is going on here?"

"Not really." I tell him, capturing Matthews lips in another kiss, this time with a little more force. Matthew smiles before kissing me back again. He knew what I was doing, and he didn't mind helping me shove Henry's face in it.

Henry clears his throat from behind us, Matthew and I break away from each other. Our point was made.

"What do you want Henry?" I ask leaning back into Matthews arms.

"I was hoping to talk to you, Valarie."

"I already told you that-"

"You were right." He tells me before walking away.

I watch him walk away, knowing that the words did not come easily for him. Admitting he was wrong was hard enough for him, but to admit he was wrong in front of someone who works for him? That is a near impossible task.

"I wish I was going with you." Matthew says kissing the top of my head. "I don't trust him."

"Nobody trusts him."

"I know."

"It's sad."
