Hailey's eyes fluttered open and the stiffness in her neck quickly alerted her.

"Ow," She groaned as she lifted her head up off a hard surface. Closing her eyes, she held her neck in her palm and cocked her head to the side, earning a satisfying crack.

She opened her eyes and glanced around, realizing that she was sitting on Romeo's lap who was still fast asleep.

That explains the stiffness in her neck; She had slept in his lap all night. A sheepish smile etched across her lips as she stared at him. She then lightly trailed her finger along his strong jawline as he snored calmly. The light and constant heaving of his broad chest brought her an unusual comfort. His lashes were long as they rested atop his cheeks and his pink, luring lips were partially opened. The sun made his features glisten illustrating how flawless his brown skin was. How she envied his beauty.

"It's rude to stare," He mumbled, fighting back a smile as he opened his hazel orbs.

She blushed and replied, "How did you know that I was staring?"

"I could feel your burning gaze on me," He smiled as he pulled her face towards his and planted a quick kiss on her lips.

"I stink," She laughed.

"I stink, too, come on, let's get inside,"

She got up off of his lap and followed him inside after unlocking her front door.

"I've missed you," She whispered as they stood under the warm shower.

"Missed you too,"

"Why don't you text me anymore?"

"I don't? Of course I do,"

She scoffed, "No, you don't anymore. You ignore my texts."

"Baby, baby, calm down," He cooed, placing a hand on her shoulder, "I'd never ignore you or your messages. Sometimes I get really busy with work and I may not have the time to reply to your texts but I'm always thinking of you,"

She released a deep breath as she tried to be calm. She really hoped he wasn't toying with her, "Are you sure?"

"Positive, baby girl. Let me show you that the words I say are true. Turn around and put your hands on the wall," He breathed.

She smiled at him as a light blush crept upon her cheeks. She turned around and did as told.

"Spread your legs," He voiced, and she complied, "Good girl,"

With one swift motion, Romeo sank his cock deeply into her and her eyes widened as a gasp left her lips. He plunged his cock deeper into her, in and out as he groped her dangling breasts.

She was in ecstasy as he fucked her under the shower. Their bodies were wet but her pussy was wetter than the ocean. How could one man have such an effect on her?

After a few more strokes, he pulled out of her breathlessly and kissed her wet back, "This was just a quickie, my darling. I have to get to work and you need to see Cassie. We'll talk later,"

She turned around and looked at him as she panted like a tired dog. She nodded in understanding and he smirked at her as he slapped her small ass.

"You're so sexy,"

She bit her lip and giggled shyly, "You really think so?"

"Yeah,"

She smiled at him and reached up to kiss his lips. Oh, how she wished he was all hers.

Romeo dropped her off at the hospital where Zach was already waiting.

"Have you seen the doctor yet?" Hailey asked him as they hugged each other.

"No,"

Pulling away, she took one good look at him. His eyes were droopy and red and his face was pale, "You haven't slept?"

He pursed his lips as he sighed inwardly, "No,"

She nodded stiffly, as pity seeped within her. She prayed Cassie was alright, "Let me speak with the receptionist, I'll be back,"

Without an answer, he nodded.

"Hi, I'm here for Cassie Leighton," Hailey said to the smiling receptionist.

"Okay, just a moment, please," She replied before she began to type on the keyboard, "Doctor Hill is treating her. I will let him know you are here,"

"Thank you," Hailey replied, before she turned and walked away, joining Zach on the chair beside him.

"She will page the doctor," She simply said.

Zach didn't respond but she knew he heard her. He was unusually quiet but she understood why. Cassie was in the hospital and they had no idea what was going on. They hoped that everything was okay. They couldn't afford to lose her. Cassie was all she had. To Zach, Cassie was like his little sister and he loved her.

"Cassie Leighton?" Came Doctor Hill's voice as he walked into the waiting area.

Zach and Hailey rose to their feet and rushed towards him.

"Yes, doctor?" Hailey spoke, wishing he had good news.

"Yes, good day. We ran some additional tests," The doctor began and she could sense some hesitation in his voice as he looked away.

"And?" Zach pressed,

"I'm afraid, it doesn't look good in there," Doctor Hill sighed.

Their hearts dropped as they reluctantly urged the doctor to continue.

"Cassie has developed ARLD,"

"Doctor, I'm sure you know we're not a doctor like you. What the fuck is ARLD?" Hailey snapped, getting agitated and even more perturbed.

"Forgive me, ARLD is the abbreviation for the illness called Alcohol-related liver disease."

Zach's heart sank into the pit of his stomach as tears filled Hailey's eyes.

"Cassie has liver disease?" Zach cried.

"I'm afraid so," The doctor responded. His discomfort was evident as he looked down at his white crocs.

"How? She rarely drinks." Cassie said.

"Actually, she may drink more than you know. ARLD is caused by damage to the liver from years of excessive drinking. Years of alcohol abuse caused her liver to be inflamed and swollen," The doctor informed them.

"No, that can't be true. Cassie is only twenty-one. There's no way she could've drank so much. She's not a drunkard," Zach argued.

"The tests have shown that she has been heavily drinking for almost seven years. She has developed cirrhosis, the final stage of ARLD," The doctor said.

"No, this can't be real. If cirrhosis is the final stage, how come she hadn't had any symptoms?"

"At this stage, there may not be any obvious symptoms. Stopping drinking alcohol immediately can prevent further damage and significantly increase her life expectancy. If she does not stop drinking, she has a less than fifty percent chance of living for at least five more years."

The thought of losing Cassie within five years was enough to make her bawl. Cassie was too young to die and she wasn't ready to lose her.

Zach was awfully quiet. His body shook in terror and worry.

"Can't she just get a liver transplant?" Hailey questioned.

"Yes, that is the best option for her, but we need to act quickly. We can begin the procedure later today or tomorrow," The doctor responded, as a hopeful smile etched across his lips.

"Thank God," Hailey cried as her eyes welled up.

"Can we see her?" Zach finally muttered.

"Yes, she's awake. Right this way, please,"
