- We turn around due to a loud clank on the steps seeing ward with a shark hook "Oh fuck john b" i said knowing what was going on this motherfucker was going to try and kill us "get back J and L get back" he said swinging at us to get away from the throttle "get away from the throttle" he said trying to hit us "stand back" he yelled "okay okay" i said as we both put our hands up " we are not going anywhere until you two listen" he said swinging the sharp hook around more as john b pleaded for him to stop "It wasn't my fault it was your fathers okay It was your father tried to change "you piece of shit" i said trying to grab the hook but he slammed me against the windshield deck area as we fought more. He knocked me over as I went rolling down landing on the floor john B jumped down "fuck" i said using john B to help get up. I used John B to help run as we can to a locked cabinet he tried getting it open but we had no luck. Until I tried getting it open he grabbed the walkie talkie "Mayday" he repeated "repeat" it said "this is the-" he got cut off by the power shutting down. he tried harder as I pulled him out the way as ward swung at us again. John b pinned him on a wall as he kneed him where he sun dont shine he hit John b down with the blunt end and I kicked John out the way as he went to go swing again I kicked him and the hook got stuck on johns cast as I punched him as hard as I could knocking him down. we both ran away and into the cabin I found my clothes grabbing JJ's knife and popping it open as he loaded a bow and arrow "dont move I swear to god Ill kill you ward" he said pushing me behind him "You got your dad right hook huh Layla. Do it john b. do it I know you want to" he challenged "fuck shut up" John B yelled "but then you would have my body to deal with believe me its more complicated then it seems" he said "but he if you-" he threw the hooking knocking the bow out of john Bs hand I punched him again as he held john B against the wall falling into the sofa. We ran down stairs finding a unlocked room We looked up seeing a sky window and opened it which lead us onto the deck where the jetski was. I helped him het it off the dock and above the water. Ward went up top and loaded the bow and arrow as we jumped on the Jet ski me behind JB. "fuck hurry" I told him John B dropped us right as he shot the arrow saving us speeding away I put the knife in the safety compartment as we sped away "you should have fucking killed him J" i said to the boy when we were far enough. "I wanted to but that only going to do more harm then good" he said

- We ran out of gas the in middle of no where great "what do you want to do?" I said to him "we have to swim L" I nodded "diver down" we both said diving into the water swimming through the marsh. after hours of swimming we made it to Lana Grubbs house and we walked up to the door as we saw her she saw us "We need to know" I said as she invited us in giving us towels and coffee along with some clothes "The night your father disappeared I came home early from work to find scooter talking to ward he was going on about how he didnt mean to hurt him but he tried changing the deal he didnt mean to do it. So scooter asked him to start from the beginning he said " It was this morning Big John and I were out on the open water he brought me out there to talk so i told him lets talk i figured it might have been good news i thought he found the gold he said no and that he needed some assurances i was so excited i told him he had it i need legal assurances he said i told him we were partners and it was a fifty fifty thing he told me hats not what this was he said he spent 20 years on this and he just got involved he never agreed to fifty fifty he asked for 80 percent and I only get 20 we started fighting and he tripped over a block and we fell I asked him where the gold was and he told me ill never find it he hit his head on the cleat i couldn't bring myself to call for help. I took a map he had in his pocket and threw him over" he said I couldn't listen anymore but he said they were close to the gold" She finished as I let out a sob tears falling from my eye of hearing the story of my fathers death I couldn't talk and it felt like I couldn't breathe ward killed my best friend. Left two kids without a father. John B rubbed my back "so he took our fathers map then he tossed his body into the sea " he said "he sunk your fathers boat where no one would ever find it and they began to look for the gold everyday for nine months when Agatha built up there was only one place they hadn't looked so ward sent my husband out into that storm i begged him not to go but he said ward was worried the storm was going to wash everything away but scooter did find something out there not what he expected the compass. he wasn't dead when ward dumped him he made it to shore and the last thing he ever did was for you two im so sorry kids" she said I stood up hugging my brother as we cried more " i should have told you guys a long time ago but you cant say anything hes dangerous he can do anything-" she said as john B dragged me out the house " i dont care" he said we walked all the way home in silence I pulled myself together holding it in just letting anger take over we walked past the group. I followed John inside the house as we both looked around for the gun. I was the first to find it i pulled it from under the sofa handing it to john B. he took it and got onto JJ's bike and left. "what the hell was that" JJ yelled at me "ward knows about the gold just tried to kill me and john b we had to swim like 7 miles to lanas house because his Jet Ski ran out of gas and she told us the story of how that asshole killed out dad and stole his map. then just dumped him in the ocean and drowned his boat." JJ's eyes went soft "so your going to let him do that" Pope said "yes Pope its an eye for an eye. that asshole took the only person me and John B had beside you guys. He took our father from us of course I'm going tp let him do it" I sobbed out as JJ grabbed me and hugged me. hours went by and John B came home "Kie, pope Layla?" he called out "just me" I said quietly watching my dads favorite baseball game fiddling with his watch I always wore "dad loved that game he'd watch it because because remember" i let out a little chuckle "yeah I do" i said as john B walked passed me and grabbed a picture of him "come on" he said grabbing a small wooden basket and a candle "where are we going J" i said "we are giving dad a proper send off" He said as I got up following him out to the deck and sat criss cross as john b lit the candle and put the basket in the water "im going to miss you dad" i said as the little memorial thing john b put together floated away "me two" he said as I placed my head on his shoulders falling asleep most likely because of all the crying.

- John b woke me up as I guess we both fell asleep here. I went inside the house throwing my hair up in a messy bun and putting my glasses on. My contacts were long gone god knows where but oh well I got in some sweat shorts and a tank top. I put on all my jewelry john b must have taken off last night knowing i hated sleeping with it on. I put on my necklace and bracelets along with a few other bracelets Kie gave me and my dads watch. I checked the time 8:40am, I brushed my teeth and went to john b in the Twinkie we went to the Crain house " For sale : Cameron Real Estate " oh shit I thought as me and john B jumped the wall as quick as possible rushing to the basement we got into the well and went into the gold room it was gone all of it. Gone. A tear fell from my eye as i worked on calming my brother down it took a while but I did it "come on we need to talk to the rest of the group" i said as we rushed to them. We told them everything. "you sure he got everything" Kie said "every bar" I said as I laid down on the floor next to john b who took off his cast "is that thing even supposed to come off yet" i asked him "no" he said "its not like i expected a happy ending or some shit" he said "john B" Kie said "what? Kie its a fracture its fine" he said . I sat next to JJ taking a hit of his blunt still not saying much. this hurts more then it did 9 months ago. Knowing the story hurts more then wondering what happened. I placed my head on JJ's should as he laced his head on mine "Guys guys! oh god i ran all the way here" He announced "how was the interview" i asked him "dont ask" i gave him a thumbs up and took another hit "JB and LB im sorry for everything" he said " I hate when you call me that pope" i announced "i have relevant information , So before i had my interview my dad said he was going down to the private airstrip to cut palms for Cameron's big plane, because it was too heavy it needed a longer landing strip to take off so im sitting there in my interview thinking to myself "hm why would Cameron need a longer airstrip to take off" he said as john b and I sat up "what could be so heavy to weigh it down!" i finished popes sentence "exactly" he said "the gold" JJ said "that's right" john B agreed "guys this is our chance but it leaves tonight so we have to go now" Pope said "guys we cant give up now" Kie said "what's the plan big man" JJ asked "we are going to steal that shit back" JB said. We all ran into the Twinkie getting in. We were driving and JJ started loading his gun "go go in there guns a-blazin' and make Ward Cameron beg for mercy abscond with as much gold as possible and  Vamonos, get the hell out of there" Jj said confidently "send that shit down the intercostal" JB said "wait for the weather" Kie continued with the plan "exit to Cuba" Pope finished "Cuba?" JJ questioned "no man Xcalak, Jewel of Yucatan. Lobsters so thick, Mangoes and no word for money" He said "lets do this shit" JB said. We pulled up and got out of the Twinkie running to the gate " what's the plan. Broad Strokes" Kie said "i dont think we got that far" I told Kie "there loading up the gold" pope said looking through binoculars John B took them "there's ward" he said as he pulled them down slowly at a sight he didnt want to see "what? what?" Kie asked as John B was still stunned "its Sarah" he said "fuck man" i said as this was going to push the plan we didnt have back farther "that looks very forced" I said as I was Ward forcing Sarah away from the car and to the plane. "hes hurting her. You four stay here as look out okay?" he said running not giving us a choice he got into the car and we all asked what he was doing JJ pulled me back as john b started driving and he ran through the gates "BIRD" I called him what my dad and I did for the first time in a year he kept going as JJ screamed at him. John B raced the plane cutting it off "John B" I yelled sobbing as JJ covered my mouth. The plane got closer to the van and he turned me so my face was buried in his  chest. He turned me back as the plane was only inches from hitting my brother. "guys I cant get arrested" Pope said "im on probation" JJ said "yeah Pete is on my ass. I get caught im screwed" I said agreeing with the two. I could help John b if he got caught but that's kinda hard to do if we both were "Were no good if we are all in jail" Kie said as ran as far as possible.
