The one and only son of the emperor of Seoulvenia is known for partying with friends all night like there's no tomorrow, forgetting about responsibilities, ditching schedules, not following rules, and exhibiting every irresponsible quality you can think of.

Unlike the natural expectations from someone who holds the title "Crown Prince," Jeon Jungkook, on the other hand, falls into the rebellious and reckless category.

Despite possessing exceptional qualities in various areas, Crown Prince Jeon Jungkook shows no interest in the empire.

One may easily assume that, having received everything he wanted in his life, Jeon Jungkook has become a spoiled crown prince who never thinks about the empire and its well-being. However, if observers closely examine his actions, they will notice that the crown prince appears to be intentionally portraying a poor image of himself.

If we look back into his past, Jeon Jungkook was not always like this. Once he was the ideal prince of Seoulvenia, adored by everyone, especially his mother. During his childhood, the crown prince was inseparable from the empress. Never leaving his mother's side, he even got the nickname "Mother's Knight."

But one day the empress left without explaining anything.

10 years ago, the emperor announced that the empress had been suffering from an unknown disease. And for that reason, she was sent off to an unknown place to be treated properly.

Throughout the years, Jungkook tried everything to meet his mother once, to see her once. But he received no answer each time he tried. It's as if his mother's existence has been erased. Even in his memories, his mother's face started to become blurry.

Nevertheless, Jungkook remembers one thing obviously: that is the last time he saw his mother. He cannot forget her tears rolling down her fair skin, glowing like pearls because of the peeking moonlight, and the last words she said to him.

"Be a good man, Jungkook-ah. I'm sorry."

He felt betrayed and abandoned by both his mother and his father. His mother left him alone without any explanation, and his father, the emperor, ignores him whenever he mentions his mother's name. The anger and sadness he felt have transformed the crown prince, gradually turning him into the rebel he is today.

"Hyung! Have you seen my wallet?"

Yugyeom's voice echoed across the royal lounge, frustration thick in his tone as he searched under the coffee table, behind the sofa cushions, and even under a pile of clothes that definitely weren't his.

Jungkook, who was sprawled across the couch with one leg hanging off the side, didn't even look up from his phone. "What kind of wallet are we talking about here? The one you never use or the one I might've borrowed last night?"

Yugyeom's head shot up. "You borrowed it? Jungkook, please tell me you didn't spend everything again."

Jungkook's grin widened. "Relax. I just took enough for snacks. Perhaps we could play a few rounds of games. And okay, maybe a little for that dance club thing."

"The dance club thing?" Yugyeom's voice rose in disbelief. "You mean the royal docks party that had fireworks at three in the morning? The whole city saw it!"

"Ah, you saw that?" Jungkook said proudly, tossing his phone aside. "Nice, right? It was for Bam's birthday. Couldn't say no to the guy."

Yugyeom groaned, dragging a hand down his face. "You know, for someone who's supposed to inherit an empire, you sure spend a lot of time avoiding it."

Jungkook shrugged, picking up a grape from the fruit bowl and tossing it in the air before catching it in his mouth. "Maybe I just like living a little. Not everything has to be about politics and paperwork."

"Yeah, well, when the emperor finds out, you'll be living a little less," Yugyeom muttered, sinking into an armchair. "You've already missed two council meetings this week."

"Perfect," Jungkook said lightly. "That means I have one more left to skip before they send me another frustrated letter."

"Jungkook," Yugyeom said, this time softly. "You don't have to pretend you don't care. Everyone knows you're smarter than this."

The smile faded from Jungkook's lips, replaced by a flicker of something almost sad. "Maybe being smart doesn't matter here. No one wants the real me anyway-they just want the crown prince they can control."

Silence filled the room for a moment. The sunlight spilled through the tall windows, painting Jungkook's worn face in gold.

Then, with a crooked grin, he broke the quiet. "Anyway, if you're still looking for your wallet, check the billiard table. I think Taehyung was using it as a coaster."

Yugyeom groaned again, but there was a small smile tugging at his lips. "You're impossible."

"I know," Jungkook said with a wink. "That's why everyone loves me."

But as Yugyeom left the room, the grin slowly disappeared. Jungkook leaned back, staring up at the ceiling.

The laughter, the teasing, the late-night parties-none of it could drown out the echo of his mother's last words.
"Be a good man, Jungkook-ah."

And every day, he wondered what that really meant.
