(Rapunzel's POV)

"I don't like your plan." I said as soon Jack and I left the others. As soon as he got his plan, he woke up the other and explained everything. Now that he had, the others sat by the fire while I paced, ignoring the strain every move caused on my shoulder.

"I know it must suck to you and if there was a better one, we'd take it. But-"

"But this is the best one, yes, and I understand that. But I'm not going to lie and say I like it." I said and he smiled.

"Alright." he said simply before tilting his head as a thought reached him. "Do you have any questions?" he asked and I shrugged.

"How am I supposed to sell this if I have never done anything like this in my life?"

"Just make a scene storming off from us. We will pretend not to go after you, but we will be close-by. If any of them is watching us, they might approach you. And hopefully the calm way if they see you're upset. All you need to do is sell the story that you are no longer with us." he explained and I sighed.

"And how do I do that? Conning isn't exactly in my expertise."

"Say... say that Elsa tried to kill you. Show her your wound and say that we didn't seem to care and that you don't feel like you can trust us enough to work with us. Just lie until she has lowered her guard enough for the rest of us to approach her." he said and I nodded.

"Alright... well I should get going." I said, forcing on an angry face to sell the story better as I turned around.

"Oh, and Rapunzel?" he asked and I looked over my shoulder.

"Yes?"

"Happy birthday?" he said and I nodded slightly to hide the thanks, before storming off on my part of the plan.

***

"Rapunzel." the most familiar voice in the world said and I spun around, seeing my mother in all of her winter-clad glory.

"Mother." I breathed out, forcing myself to hurry over to her and hug her closely. She brought her arms down around me as well with a sigh. Slowly she pushed me away and looked into my eyes.

"I told you, you should've stayed at home with me. These people were meant to betray you."

"And you were right, mother. I don't feel safe here." Not a lie. "I was attacked by a man, and the girl I was supposed to help just left me. Then she attacked me when I met her again, and no one did anything to stop her." I told her, only the first line was really true, but lying came easier than I thought it would.

"So you left them?" she asked and I nodded quickly, making it look hysterical to fit the act.

"I asked one of them about it and he told me I was a tool. And that a tool could be replaced if lost." I continued and she sighed again as if she couldn't decide between pitying or scolding me.

"You were foolish to leave. But I trust you won't do it again." she said and I shook my head again.

"I just want to be safe again." I told her, once again not a complete lie. She opened her mouth to say something more, but an arm wrapped itself around her arms before she could, taking her by surprise and making her shut up. Her eyes widened as she stared at me, then a pale hand threw something in her face and she fell. Merida caught her, having been the one to hold her in the first place.  "What was it you threw?" I asked Jack and he turned from my mother.

"Do you remember how I told you about Pitch's normal dreamsand?" he asked and I nodded slowly. "This is like that, only it gives good dreams instead of bad." he explained and I nodded again while he flashed me a grin. "You did great. If I hadn't been the one with the plan, I might have believed what you were saying to be true." he said and I chuckled half-heartedly.

"How do you plan on doing the rest of the plan?" I asked and Hiccup stepped forward from where he had been talking with the royal sisters.

"I was actually wondering the same thing." he said and Jack's grin grew.

"Don't worry, I have a plan for that too, and it is good."

***

"You and I have very different perceptions of what's a good plan and what's not." Hiccup told Jack and the others hummed in agreement while I looked down, trying to think. The plan was completely based on a gamble, but it was a solid plan if the gamble paid out. The plan would do us nothing if it didn't.

"How do you plan on contacting him?" I asked and Merida sighed.

"Don't tell me you believe in this idea." she said in an exasperated tone.

"I believe we don't have many options, so I'd at least like to know all the details before I say anything else." I told her simply, before turning to Jack and waiting for his answer and he smiled, happy someone was hearing him out.

"Elsa told me how to get back to the cave where we've known him to be last. So, I could go there and make a sculpture of your mother with my powers. He'd know it was me and based on her absence, he would figure out the rest." Jack explained and I nodded.

"And what is your plan if he doesn't care?" I asked and he shrugged.

"If he doesn't care, it should be no problem to make your mother realize how stupid working with him is." when no one said anything to argue, he grinned. "Does this mean you're in on the plan?" he asked and I shrugged.

"I don't see any better options."

"Me neither." Hiccup added and Merida frowned.

"I'm in, but if it fails horribly, I'm blaming you." she said and Jack's grin grew.

"I can live with that.

If you had to choose one of the four main characters as your favorite, which one would it be, and who is your least favorite? My favorite is probably Rapunzel and my least favorite is definitely Merida, though I still love her.
