(Hiccup? POV)
"Windows, now," Jack said as he entered a sitting room where the rest of us were gathered, Elsa right behind him.
We had been off in the sitting room, planning exactly how the whole 'walking into a trap' thing would go, while Jack and the crown princess had been working on getting the winter to leave spring.
It was the queen who moved first, walking up to the windows and opening the shutters, revealing a clouded sky, but with the sun peeking through and the snow had somehow disappeared suddenly.
"Sweetheart, you controlled it." the queen said, walking over to Elsa and Anna joined. Jack went over to the rest of us, letting the family have their moment.
"Have you come up with anything?" He asked and Merida groaned, falling back onto the cushions, which obviously was a great sign to the other guy.
"We've mostly gone over what we know, which is that Pitch has sand that can trap us in a dream world for a week. Gothel has magic that allows her to... teleport? Pascal is a hostage." I counted off. "Oh, and they have a night fury, and if the sand works on him too, we'll have a big problem. I've seen him aggressive and it's not pretty for his opponents." I added and Jack nodded.
"Have we pinned their location? Know an area they might be in or something like that?"
"We do. A guard was patrolling the night after we got taken out, looking for anyone who hadn't found shelter yet. He claims to have seen blue light and fire from the forest northeast of here. It seems that they have continued seeing it each night since. We were too far west to see any even if it is true, which we don't know if it is. But it is the best shot we've got." I explained and Jack nodded.
"Alright. That leaves figuring out when we're going, how we'll approach it, and about a thousand more details." Jack mumbled to himself, then sighed, tired. It looked like he needed sleep, and I'm pretty sure he didn't even need sleep anymore. Me and the others, who did, were feeling the same way as the guardian, only worse.
It was silent for a while, all of us simply staring into thin air, then Rapunzel shook her head, put on a small smile, and said;
"Let's get to work."
***
We left the palace at sundown, equipped with the weapons they knew how to handle. It was only me, Jack, Merida, and Rapunzel who went, hoping to go unnoticed, get the element of surprise.
We got a mile into the forest before we realized that the element of surprise would be impossible to attain when our opponents have a dragon with a sense of smell at the same level as a snake.
This was shown to us when the night fury suddenly shot fire out of the sky, making a circle of fire for them to be caught in, twenty meters in diameter.
Then the fury itself landed inside the circle, pushing them to the edge of it where it was hot and hard to breathe.
Something was off with the normally puppy-like dragon. We just had to figure out what.
"Toothless." I snapped, feeling like the scornful parent.
The dragon turned to me and Jack took that as his opportunity to call on the wind and knock out the fire, but it was like Toothless knew what he was doing before he even did it, because his head snapped to Jack, his slightly open mouth beginning to draw out fire.
At the last second before releasing the blast, my dragon turned and shot someone else.
"Merida!"
So I can't post on normal days, but Christmas Eve is no problem??
Anyhow, I kind of left this at a cliffhanger, so... sorry (not really sorry) about that. Taking a step away from the story though;
I hope you all are happy and healthy and I really hope you have a nice holiday. Personally, I'm going to watch my family struggle with opening my well-packaged gifts.
Anyhow, happy holidays
