"So when will this be airing?"
Taehyung paces back and forth, his cell phone pressed to his ear.
"Okay, great. Thank you so much. Bye."
Once he hangs up, he turns to Chantelle who is sitting at her desk. Her chin is propped up on the palm of her hand as she watches him intently.
"All good?"
"Yep, the story will be on the two o'clock news." Taehyung informs her. "They already got the mugshot and info you sent them."
All morning, the two detectives have been sorting through all the new information they received about their suspect. Hoseok Jung.
He was arrested for armed robbery at the age of 16 in Korea and was tried as an adult. After getting out just last year, he legally changed his name. Most likely, he had been carefully planning his killing spree for months before flying to New York to finally get started.
They were able to get all of this information from Taehyung's police friend, plus a mugshot. Now that they have zeroed in on their suspect and finally have a picture, their goal is to get it plastered everywhere.
Someone must have seen him. There's no such thing as a perfect murder. Or a perfect murderer, for that matter.
"I wanna talk to her." Chantelle stands up from her chair abruptly.
"Talk to who?"
"Mrs. Jeon." She says. "It's better she hears this from us before it's broadcasted to the entire world."
"Fair enough." Taehyung nods. "Don't forget the posters."
Chantelle glances back at the thick stack of wanted posters on her desk. They decided it was best to go old school if they want the job done quickly.
"Oh yeah." She grabs them and then follows Taehyung towards the double doors. "Alright, let's do this."
The elevator ride down to the first floor is silent, the atmostphere feeling charged with anxiety and anticipation. They are so close to solving this case, they can practically taste it. But now they have to complete the most daunting task of all, capturing the killer as soon as possible.
Chantelle just knows she wouldn't be able to handle seeing another member of this family die. No matter how much she may dislike some of them.
"Do you think she knows?" Taehyung questions while they walk to her car. "That it's him, I mean."
"I wanna believe she would say something if she knew." She sighs. "But then again, she would end up incriminating herself. I don't know what to think about Mrs. Jeon anymore, honestly."
Jungkook's interview definitely turned the case upside down. It filled in all the missing pieces they needed, and then some. But Chantelle can't deny the sinking feeling in her stomach that comes from knowing there's more than one guilty party here. It would be so much easier if things were clear cut, black and white.
