"I hope you know it's hard to look cute when you're almost eight months pregnant." Chantelle scoffs, stepping out the bathroom to reveal her outfit to her husband. Then she puts her hands on her hips for emphasis. "With twins."
"You still pull it off, though." Taehyung winks, approaching his wife and kissing her forehead. "You look beautiful, baby. Are you ready to go?"
"Mhm, let's go." He grabs her hand, helping her down the staircase of their house. Chantelle can't even see her own feet, let alone the stairs themselves so getting down them is always a challenge. "Where are we going again?"
"Just out for dinner." He answers vaguely, locking the door behind him once they leave. Then he opens the passenger door for his wife, offering his arm for balance as she climbs in.
Chantelle lets out a sigh of relief once she's finally in the car, leaning her head back against the headrest. This pregnancy has really taken a toll on her body, even the smallest of tasks are exhausting. At this point, she can't stand up for more than ten minutes without getting lightheaded.
But she's going to pull through until her precious little girls arrive.
"A little early for dinner, isn't it?" She comments, looking at the time on the dashboard when he starts the engine. Barely five o'clock.
"There's no such thing as too early if we're both hungry." He replies with a shrug, making her smile a bit.
"You have a point."
As Taehyung drives, Chantelle cradles her belly and stares out the window at the scenery going by. It's a beautiful Sunday afternoon in the middle of spring. The sun is shining down on them and the trees are dancing in the light breeze. It's hard not to be in a good mood.
But Chantelle's detective senses are tingling. Her husband is definitely up to something.
Taehyung was gone for most of the morning and even dropped their son off at his grandparents' house. He claims that he just wants them to have some alone time together, but she feels like there's something else up his sleeve.
"We're here, let's go." Taehyung helps her out the car, placing a gentle hand on the small of her back as they enter the restaurant. Chantelle looks around, realizing she has never been here before. She can only wonder why he picked it. "Hi, do you have a reservation under Kim?" He greets the woman at the front counter.
"Yes, we do!" She smiles brightly at the two of them. "Please follow me."
The married couple follows the woman through the restaurant, bypassing a few perfectly good empty tables.
"What are you up to, mister?" Chantelle narrows her eyes at her husband while they walk.
"What are you talking about?" He laughs a bit, shaking his head. "I can't take my wife out for dinner?"
