A horrified Chantelle glances between Taehyung and Seokjin, wondering why the universe has decided to put her in such an awkward situation.

"Wait, babe?" Taehyung scoffs in disbelief, his eyes filled with amusement as he looks between Chantelle and Jin. "You've got to be kidding me."

"What's so funny?" Seokjin tilts his head at him in a threatening manner. "Is there something you want to say?"

Chantelle couldn't be more horrified in this moment. She wanted to tell Jin about Taehyung being back, but she didn't want him to find out like this. This is going south really quick.

"Let's all just calm down, okay?" She stands up quickly, stepping between the two men. Her usually calm and sweet natured boyfriend now looks like he could strangle Taehyung with his bare hands. And she has no idea how to handle this.

"I think you have some explaining to do." Says Seokjin, crossing his arms in front of his chest.

"I know." Chantelle sighs in defeat. "C'mon, let's talk outside for a moment." She grabs his hand, leading him out to the hallway. They stand in a secluded corner to have their private conversation.

"What the hell is going on?"

"I didn't know about this, okay? Lieutenant told me I had a case when I walked in and sent me straight to the location. I had no idea Taehyung was back or that I would be working with him again." She explains, feeling exasperated.

"And when was this?"

"Uh, this morning. Around seven."

"It's almost noon, Chantelle!" His eyes are wide with disbelief. "When were you gonna tell me, huh? After you let him fuck you again?"

She steps back a little, feeling the impact of his harsh words like he just kicked her in the chest. "Really, Jin? That was fucking low."

The officer seems to immediately realize his mistake, his expression morphing from anger into one of guilt. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean it, I'm just..upset."

Chantelle sucks in a breath, trying her best to keep her emotions at bay. "Anything else you have to say for yourself? Because I have a case to get back to."

Jin blinks at her, seeming confused. "Hold on, you're not seriously going to keep working with him, are you?"

"A young mother and her two year old daughter were brutally murdered and dumped in the Hudson River like garbage." She deadpans. "If there's any case I have to solve, it's this one."

Seokjin takes a deep breath. "Look, I understand that you're passionate about your job but you can't work with him."

"Why?"

He rolls his eyes. "Don't ask me stupid questions, Chantelle."

The detective stares at him in disbelief for a few moments before letting out a bitter laugh. "You are so lucky I work here or else I would've cursed your ass out by now. I don't know what's gotten into you, but you need to watch how you speak to me."
