Few weeks later...

Thomas searched all around the crowded house for the birthday boy who, he might add, was turning eighteen in just a few minutes. But nobody knew where he left off too. The werewolf growled in annoyance when he didn't see him anywhere and moved between the dancing bodies to make his way to the backyard.

"Where the hell are y—" Thomas squinted his eyes the moment they saw something move on the roof. "Is that... —You've got to be kidding me." He sighed.

He quickly sprinted back inside to find an open window upstairs and started climbing through it. "Stupid, little shit. I'm gonna murder him. The idiot—" He grumbled all the while balancing on the roof, not wanting to fall off.

Zara heard the little mumbles and frowned in confusion of who the hell would be on his roof, but stiffened once his eyes landed on a pissed off looking Thomas. "What are you doing h—"

"Me? You're gonna be eighteen soon! What the fuck are you doing up here, you dipshit. It's that special number, you know, the big one eight." The older scoffed, standing next to the sitting younger. Though his eyes softened once they took in the nervous fumbling. Knowing he did that a lot when he was thinking to much. "Why are you up here?" He softly asked, squatting down.

Zara shook his head, wanting to stand up and leave before the clock hit zero. But Thomas had a different idea as he pulled him back down, stern eyes holding his in a lock. "Come on, you can talk to me."

Zara frowned before averting his eyes, feeling like throwing up the longer they sat here. "I'm scared."

Thomas hummed, slowly sitting down before him. "For... the whole mate thing that could happen tonight?" He softly guessed.

Zara nodded, his eyes finding it hard to look at the boy before him. "I...—I need to go." He muttered, though stopped dead in his track as he heard people downstairs yell the count down. Oh no.

He started panicking, not wanting to be here with his crush he so wished to be his mate, but not ready to know if he was lucky enough. Thomas was surprised at the sudden act up and moved on his own instinct as he quickly grabbed the younger's wrist, stopping him from leaving.

"Thomas, please let go."

"No I—"

"I said let go!"

Thomas was a stuttering mess, not knowing why he couldn't let go of his friend's wrist, somehow not wanting too. Which caused Zara to turn around in anger, but both boys froze the moment they locked eyes.

The people cheering downstairs was a low rumble on the background as the two stared at one another in shock, the newfound sensation running through their bodies in waves of tingles. The hand still holding Zara's wrist tightened while Thomas slowly pulled him back down.

"You're...—"

"My mate." Zara finished breathlessly, sitting back down before the older. He couldn't believe it. He was a bit scared of what the other might be thinking. Maybe he didn't want him, or thought it was weird to mate with his best friend. Oh goddess.

Zara was pulled back out of his panicking thoughts the moment he felt something on his cheek, causing him to flinch and lock eyes with the green ones before him that... were closing in? "That explains so much." Thomas muttered under his breath, chuckling softly while leaning in on one hand.

"W-what?" Zara asked confused, though a little distracted by the closeness of their faces. Seeing every little spec of brown in his green eyes the longer he stared.

Thomas smiled, holding still. "The last few months... I didn't know why, but, the only thing on my mind was you." He softly confessed. "Thinking of ways I could make you smile so I could hear your laugh or how I could make you stay longer so I didn't have to see you leave."

Zara held his breath the more he talked, feeling like his insides were doing flips and kicks in excitement. He felt the same way. He had too.

"I thought I liked Yara, but...—" He shook his head, leaning a bit forward so their noses could touch. "I was so wrong." He softly whispered, their skin tingling in pleasure where they touched.

"So... you're not just saying this because of the mate bond?" Zara asked, just to be sure. His overthinking mind making him question everything.

Thomas leaned back a little to properly look at him. "No you idiot, did you even listen?"

Zara flushed red in embarrassment, causing the older to chuckle. "I said months before today."

The reality slowly dawned on the younger as the corners of his lips pulled up. He liked him back. "Goddess." He sighed, relieved. "I was so scared it wouldn't been you."

Thomas was surprised at that confession, to say the least. "So, you liked me too?"

"Didn't you notice?" Zara scoffed with a small chuckle. "My crush on you was huge, it was embarrassing."

"Really?" Thomas smirked, leaning back in. "For how long?"

"Let's not go into that." Zara blushed, kind of leaning back on his hands. A bit nervous with being so close after wishing it for so long.

"Why? It's been that long?" The older teased, crawling between those long legs to make his way to his destination. "No need to be shy, it's just me."

"It's because it's you." Zara mumbled softly the moment their noses touched again. His heart thumping painfully fast against his ribs.

Thomas hummed, their lips brushing slightly, but not really as the older leaned back again so they could lock eyes. He slowly grabbed one of Zara's hands and placed it on his chest, the quick beating of his heart drumming through their touch. Zara's eyes flickered from their hands to Thomas's eyes, a little shocked. The older smiled reassuringly at him. "See, you're not the only one nervous here."

Zara swallowed his nerves while looking back at their hands still pressed together against his chest, feeling himself warm up inside. He breathed out some air before having the courage to look back up at those green orbs still watching him. Thomas smiled and leaned in once again to finally claim those awaiting lips he had desired the last couple've weeks.

Finally, they both thought happily.

Both not aware of the excited, evil smirking girl photographing everything. Yara chuckled, shaking her head while smiling as she held back her phone. "I knew there was something going on between them lovebirds... —I have a sixth sense or something."
