Have you ever heard of lovers aligned with the stars?

It's an old myth I like to listen to, when my mum was alive and able to read by my bedside. I can still faintly hear her read the story to the little me, holding her hand and falling deep asleep.

I have no idea where the myth originated from, if you ask me.

But at first, I had believed that you,

Were that star that aligned with mine,

And that we were destined to do something-

Something big,

That we could get married, have children, and none of that was going to happen.

So now I'm re-reading this myth again in our bed,

This time with my own voice,

And realizing that you weren't the water to my Aquarius jug, the arrows to my archer and definitely not the brightest star to my own.

Maybe the skies had something else aligned for me,

Or maybe our stars were not aligned yet,

I kept trying to find excuses, reasons - everything to make myself feel that you were the one.

But as you stroll in, glare at me and toss the sheets over your head, I know none of these excuses will any longer make sense.
