Lea made a salmon wrap for me and a chicken wrap for herself.
"What should I say?" I asked her
"Um.. do you want to introduce me? Then maybe just say it?" She suggested

"I don't know. I'll figure it" I decided
"Okay... are you sure you're ready?" She asked me again
"Yes. Let's go." I told her
"Wait right now?" She asked looking at me crazy

"Yes right now" I confirmed
"Okay" she said uncertainly

Lea lead me out to my car and I got in the passenger car. She started the drive to my neighborhood and the nearer we got to my house, the more anxious I felt. I didn't even notice I was shaking, until Lea put her hand on my leg and squeezed a little. She smiled at me as she took my hand in here and rubbed her thumb over my knuckles.

She pulled into my driveway and opened the car door for me. I walked to my front door and unlocked it. I knew my parents would be in the living room, probably watching true crime shows blaming the victims for what happened to them.

I walked into the living room, Lea right behind me and stood in front of my parents. My mom immediately sat up upon seeing Lea.
"Mom, Dad, this is Lea" I said

"Samaria" she gasped
"Have you finally brought home a boy? Is this your boyfriend? Lee is it?" She asked getting excited

"Umm. Not quite. Lea is female. She's my girlfriend. Because I'm gay. Mom. Dad. I'm lesbian" I ranted

"I'm sorry what?" My father sat up from his arm chair.
"I'm lesbian" I repeated
"No you're not" my mother laughed
"I am though" I said.

Lea grabbed my hand for reassurance. My parents eyes followed our hands and I watched as my mothers face melted into a scowl.

"No! NO! I HAVE KNOWN YOU YOUR ENTIRE FUCKING LIFE. I WOULD KNOW IF MY CHILD WAS GAY. THIS LITTLE DYKE OR WHATEVER GOT YOU THINKING YOU ARE BUT I KNOW YOU. AND YOU'RE NOT. I WONT HAVE IT"
"You don't know me" I said
"Excuse me?" She said sitting up

"You don't know me. You know who you want me to be. It's unfair for you to project your wants and needs onto me it's unfair-"
"LIFE IS UNFAIR! DO YOU THINK ITS FAIR THAT I CARRIED YO SORRY ASS FOR NINE MONTHS, WENT THROUGH TWELVE HOURS OF LABOR AND TOOK CARE OF YO UNGRATEFUL ASS?! NO! AND THEN FOR YOU TO COME UP IN MY HOUSE TELLIN ME I DONT KNOW MY OWN DAMN CHILDREN."

"Its unfair to assume you know me because you birthed me. I don't owe you anything for taking care of me because it's the law. You don't know me"
"And yo 'girlfriend' does" she said glaring at Lea

"She knows me a lot better than you do" I said
"Prove it then" My dad spoke for the first time
"Huh" I said confused
"Prove we don't know you" he said again

"What's my favorite color" I asked
"Pink" my mother said
"It has been since you were a little girl" my father agreed nodding

"Lea. What's my favorite color"
"Grey because it's black and white. Order and creation" Lea answered correctly

"Okay. So what knowing a color you like big deal" my mom said
"What do I want to do when I grow up?" I asked
"You want to be and veterinarian" my mom answered wrong again
"Lea what do I want do as a career?"
"You want to expand your makeup line into a well known brand" she answered correctly

"You have a makeup line?" My mom asked
"Yes I have had it for three years" I said
"Maybe we don't know her as well as we think" my father said stroking his beard.

"NO! I WILL NOT LET MY CHILD TELL ME WHO SHE THINKS SHE IS. THIS LITTLE DYKE IS CONFUSING YOU. YOU ARE NOT GAY"
"Lea is not confusing me! You know nothing about her, yet you feel comfortable enough to call her out of her name, twice?! Lea has understood me when you didn't. Even now you don't understand because you don't want to understand. But it's fine, I'm not here for you to change your views or for your acceptance. I'm doing this because I can't hide anymore"

I turned and left with Lea right behind me.
