"Call it again." After a night of wallowing in self pity, I was once again sat in the familiarity of Scott's bedroom with Stiles sit across from me in a wooden chair while Scott frantically searched around for his phone.
"It's not here. Okay, so you lost your phone. Why don't you just get a new one?" Stiles suggested but Scott dismissed the idea immediately, saying that he couldn't afford one.
"I can't do this alone. We have to find Derek." This caused Stiles to scoff in response. "Well, "A", you're not alone. You have us. And "B", didn't you say Derek walked into gunfire? He sounds pretty dead."
"Argent's plan was to use him to get to the Alpha - they're not gonna kill him." Scott explained which caused me to finally speak. " That actually doesn't sound like a bad idea. They use Derek to get Peter - problem solved."
"Not if Peter's going after Allison to find Derek! I can't protect her on my own. Which means we either find Derek first - just - just help me!" I thought about helping him for a moment but my body was telling me no.
"You know, you probably lost it when you two were fighting. You remember that, when he was trying to kill you, after you interrupted him trying to kill Jackson? Are you starting to see a pattern of violent behavior here" This caused Scott to stop searching for a moment.
"He wasn't going to kill anyone. And I'm not letting him die." Stiles seemed to disagree but i knew nothing he would say would Scott change his mind. His heart was too big.
"Could you at least think about letting him die? For me?" This made me throw a pair of bunched up socks at him and a glare to be sent my way. My eyes were then drawn to Scott, who's head snapped towards the window. "What?"
"My Mom just got home from work." My eyes found the floor as the unwanted guilt from last night came back to me. "What's she doing?" I asked softly with a gulp at the end.
"Crying." None of us spoke as we all avoided eye contact. "Scott, you can't protect everyone." I was the one to break the silence. "I have to." He looked at both of us with so much determination in his eyes it was starting to make me believe he could protect everyone.
