I was waiting with Allison while she got her books out of her locker. We were having a quiet conversation about the dance tomorrow before we were interrupted by a sweaty Jackson.
"Hey, what time should I pick you up for the dance tomorrow?" He was as pale as a ghost and looks as if he was gonna pass out at any given moment. "Are you okay?" Allison voiced both our inner concerns.
"Yeah, I - I'm great. I'm just excited to go to the formal. With you. As friends. Just friends. Just - just friends" How many times do you have to clarify your going just as friends, this guy really needs to widen his vocabulary.
I say goodbye to Allison as she skipped off with her just as friends date and made my way to my next class. My mind wandered back to Brett as i found myself subconsciously smiling. I think this is the first time i've ever gone to a dance with someone i genuinely have feelings for.
"Nothing's wrong, I just - I have a lot on my mind." Said Allison as her, Lydia and I stood on the escalators in the mall. "You could smile, at least. Ever heard of the saying, "Never frown. Someone could be falling in love with your smile"? Smile, Allison. I'm buying you a dress. Both of you." Lydia's words caused me to snicker.
"Lyds i told you i can buy my own dress, i'm an independent wo-" I was cut off buy her finger pressed to my lips. "Hush Kels, I am paying, no if but's and maybe's." I once again laughed at her words.
"Have to admit as far as apologies go, that's more than I expected." Allison spoke up again. So this is why Lydia is buying Allison a dress, she wants to say sorry for kissing Scott. I still have no idea why she's buying me a dress but oh well.
"Excellent." I could tell Lydia was happy that her best friend was finally forgiving her. "But not as much as I'm going to ask." Lydia shot Allison a confused look and so did I.
"What? What's that supposed to mean?" We all took a step of the escalator and stopped at the top. "It means you're going to cancel on whatever dumb, roided - up jock you said yes to and you're going to go with somebody else, him to be specific." Allison then pointed over to the perfume stand where Stiles was sneezing at the scent, making me laugh.
"Don't frown, Lydia. Someone could be falling in love with your smile." I mimicked Lydia's words from before causing Allison to laugh. I hooked arms with her and made our way towards the dresses while Lydia stood in her spot.
I was scanning through some outfits until i accidentally bumped into a little girl. "Oh my god i'm so sorry i didn't see you there." i immediately extended my hand and she grabbed it with a smile.
"It's all good i should look where i'm going, i'm Lori." This time she extended her hand out for me. "Hey Lori, i'm Kelsey." I shook her hand and we both giggled. "Where's your parents, Lori."
"Dead, but i'm here with my brother." i choke on the air at her bluntness. "And before you start apologising, it's all good it happens all the time." i relax a little but i still feel guilty.
"My brother's looking for a suit for this dance. This girl has him completely whipped and he wants to look fresh for her." She rolled her eyes causing me to giggle at her statement.
Her phone then lit up and the contact name 'brother' was displayed on the screen. "Hey i better go but it was nice meeting you." She waved goodbye to me before running in the other direction. i turned back to the dresses in front of me and chuckled under my breath.
That girl, she looked so familiar but i couldn't put my finger on it. Her eyes were this green colour that i felt i'd stared into many times. I pushed the thought to the back of my mind and began to make my way towards Lydia.
A/N: I honestly can't tell if Brett has blue or green eyes so i'll say he has green eyes :)
