"We have two spare rooms that you and Joel could use. Also running water and soaps." Maria said and Makayla's eyes lit up. They were already done with their food.

"I've been dreaming about a clean bed for weeks by now." Makayla smirked but her face dropped as soon as she heard gunshots and the sound of a siren.

"Bandits! Come with me." Maria stood up and ran out of the room with Makayla right behind her.

Two of those bandits were at the end of the hallway and they managed to shoot them dead while running.

At the end of the hallway were two door and Maria struggled to find the keys in her pocket of the ones that led to where Tommy and Joel where.

"Fuck I forgot them in the cafeteria!" Maria cursed and ran to the other door and Makayla went after her.

"Maria!" Makayla pushed her to the side since a bullet was coming at her and they hid down behind some wooden box. Thankfully the bullet didn't hit Maria but it scratched Makayla's shoulder.

"Thanks." Maria breathed hard and Makayla nodded, standing up and killing the guy.

They could already hear the gunshots from the other side of the building.

"We will wait for them here." She pulled Makayla into one of those rooms.

"We can help!" Makayla protested but Maria already locked the door.

With a sigh Makayla sat on one of the chairs, waiting.

Maria was pacing around the room like a crazy person but soon the gunshots stopped.

Makayla stood up and Maria hurried to unlock the door before they stepped out of the room.

"Tommy!" She shouted.

"Maria! You alright?" They heard him shout from a distance but soon they could see him and Joel.

"We're fine." She said and Tommy pulled her into a tight hug.

Meanwhile Joel's eyes met with Makayla's.

She stood a bit behind and he slowly aproached her,

She stood a bit behind and he slowly aproached her,

"Uh- you alright?" He asked but frowned when he noticed her the wound on her shoulder, grabbing her arm and pulling her towards him.

"It's fine! I'm fine! Just a scratch." Makayla protested but Joel was still frowning.

"Girlie saved my life over there." Maria spoke and Makayla noticed both her and Tommy looking at them.

Mostly it was Tommy looking at Makayla almost suspiciously.

"We gotta get this cleaned up." Joel looked at Tommy, "Alright. Alright I'll send someone to take care of it."

"It's fine I'll take her there." Maria took her by her hand leaving Tommy and Joel there.

"Come with me." Tommy told Joel and started walking away.

They walked into a room and Tommy started going through some papers. "I knew she was familiar." He said and Joel frowned, not understanding what he was going on about.

"I found it in one of the small villages while I was on a patrol. Someone had to leave it there.."

"This." He took out a piece of paper and started reading it out loud. "Makayla Reed, born in Washington, 5'8, 19 years old, dark hair, brown eyes. It must have been the Fireflies."

Tommy looked at Joel who was just looking at him with his forehead creased and eyebrows furrowed.

"Read that damn thing again." Joel pointed at it and Tommy did as he said, "Makayla Reed, born in Washington, 5'8, 19 years old, dark hair, brown eyes. Something doesn't add up?" He asked Joel.

"How old is that message?" His voice was low and stern.

"By the date it's only about 3 weeks old."

"Goddamnit." Joel cursed, dragging his palm across his face, frustrated.

"What's wrong with it?" Tommy asked, still dumbfounded.

"Give it to me." Joel ripped the paper from Tommy's hand and stormed out of the room.

He walked outside of the building and leaned against the railing of the porch.

"Fuckin' hell." He cursed releasing a heavy sigh.

He just needed to some time to process what just happened.

After a few minutes Maria walked out, "You good?"

"Yeah." Joel muttered.

"Your rooms are ready. It's just on the right just when you enter."

"Alright. Thank you." He said and Maria just nodded and shut the door behind her.

He looked at the paper in his hand one last time before going back inside.

He was raging even.

There were two rooms at the end of the hallway and he stepped into one hoping it was the one where Makayla was staying and he pushed the door open, closing them behind him and the rumble made her flinch.

"What the hell.." she said as he stormed towards her throwing the piece of paper under her legs.

"Care to explain?!" He asked raspily.

Makayla looked down and picked the paper up. She started reading it and after she was done she just remained hypnotizing the paper.

"Say something dammnit!" He shouted making her look at him.

"You are fuckin' 19 Makayla! What the hell were you thinkin'?!" He said through gritted teeth and Makayla actually felt intimidated by him.

"So?" Was all she managed to say as he looked away, angry as hell and she immediately regretted her response.

"Are you kiddin' me right now.." he snorted ironically before his stern eyes focused on her again.

"Now answer me. And you better answer honestly. Did I- take your virginity?!" He took a step closer, his eyebrows furrowed, forehead creased and his chest was rising and falling rapidly, his voice was full of shame and anger.

"Y-yes." Makayla stuttered making him curse under his breath and look away.

"Who cares how old I am?! This world is already twisted enough!" She snapped suddenly.

"I do! You're a damn teenager Makayla! You should be with someone your own fuckin' age!"

His words made her shut up. Her eyes became teary while he remained furious.

"Screw this." He shook his head and was about to leave when she grabbed onto his shirt, "Joel-"

"Don't." He warned her with a strong tone in his voice and she did as he said, letting go of him just before he left and slammed her door so hard the walls shook.
