"Tommy told me about you and Joel." Maria said out of the blue while placing a cup of tea in front of Makayla.

She gulped hard. She definitely wasn't expecting Maria to bring that up.

And she also didn't understand how Tommy knew. Did Joel tell him?

"C'mon no need to be awkward about it. I was just suprised when I found out about the age difference." Maria sat down.

"I don't really know what to say."

"So, did you find the Fireflies?" Maria decided to change the subject.

"We did. But to no end."

"I see." Maria looked down, already noticing how devastated Makayla was by it.

Suddenly they could hear the door of Tommy's and Maria's house open and soon Tommy and Joel walked into the kitchen.

Tommy went to pour himself some water while Joel leaned against the door frame, focusing his gaze on Makayla.

"We should probably now show you guys something. I know you'd appreciate a nice bath and clean bed." Maria declared and looked at Makayla, "Take it with you, it's cold outside anyway."

Makayla looked down at her tea and took it in her hands. They didn't even exchange a look with Joel as they followed Maria and Tommy outside.

Since their house was right by the gate Makayla only now had the chance to really take a look around Jackson.

The streets were quite full even if it was already getting pretty dark. People talking to each other, drinking coffe by their houses with their guns by their side. Some making their way through on their horses and just then two little girls rushed under Makayla's feet, making her spill out some of the tea.

But they didn't even acknowledge her, laughing it off as they sprinted after each other again.

"You're okay?" Joel asked Makayla, wiping the bit of the tea from her hands but she was far from that. Her mind has if became clouded.

She imagined those little girls running right into David's arms. Laughing for the last time before they're raped and eaten.

"Makayla." Joel spoke again and her eyes finally landed on him,

"Yeah I'm fine." She lied and continued walking, leaving Joel behind with a worry written all over his face.

"Where are we even goin'?" Joel asked and Tommy looked back to answer, "Look." Tommy pointed forward and Makayla and Joel were met by a big house at the end of a long path.

"I assumed you guys would be fine with sharing." Tommy grinned a little, making Joel roll his eyes as he grabbed the keys Tommy threw at him.

"Make yourself at home. Cause you are." Tommy smiled, pulling Maria closer to him by the waist and Joel and Makayla just looked at each other is if they were some strangers.

"Thanks Tommy." Joel looked at his younger brother who just smiled, "You're more than welcome. See you later." Both Maria and Tommy waved to them before leaving and Makayla and Joel went to walk inside.

As soon as the door clicked open, they stepped inside.

Both suprised by the whole interior.

The inside of the house was just as beautiful as the outside. It was very spacious with many rooms and a staircase.

"Fucking hell." Makayla sighed as she quickly ran off to look around, completely fazed.

After looking around the lower floor she ran upstairs seeing two doors. One of a bathroom and one of a bedroom and the first door she opened was of the bedroom.
