They've been preparing and decorating the basement for almost 5 hours now with multiple pauses. They had to clean the floor and counters as well.

"Where did you guys get all the alcohol?" Makayla frowned looking at the counter that looked more like a small bar.

"You'd be surprised what you can find." Maria said sitting down on a nearest chair.

"When is it supposed to start?" Makayla looked at her.

"I told everyone it's starting in an hour. But it won't hurt anyone if we turn the music on now." She stood up and made her way to the bar, turning on a small old radio. But what was important was that it worked and music soon filled the whole room.

Makayla got lost in her thoughts once again, thinking about Joel when she realized they had been gone for pretty long by now.

"Uh- um, When's Joel and Tommy coming back?"

Maria looked at the clock. "They will be home in an hour or two for sure. Probably have a lot to talk about." Maria said.

"Yeah." Makayla said, looking away. She just wanted to drink and dance to forget last night as fast as possible.

...

The whole basement was packed. Seemed like everyone's families came to have a good time. Most people were dancing, some drinking and talking. It looked like a big celebration.

Makayla walked over to the bar, her eyes searching for Maria as she saw her talking to a group of people. One of them was the woman that was talking to Joel earlier and Makayla was suddenly glad Joel wasn't there.

She sighed, realizing she's acting as if Joel was her's. He's not and he can do whatever he wants. Probably prefers a woman around his age anyway.

Makayla came to stand at the bar, grabbing a bottle of Tequila by herself and poured herself a shot into a glass.

She downed it, grimacing a little when her throat and insides burned but she didn't hesitate to take another shot. And another. One after one.

She was only 4 shots down but her head already started to spin a little since she wasn't really a drinker but she could control herself just fine still. Leaning against the bar with her elbow she examined the whole basement. Weird how everyone just shut off, having fun as if this world was different.

"I knew I'd find you here." She heard a familiar a voice, making her turn her head.

Nate.

"In the basement or at the bar?" She raised an eyebrow at him making him snort, "Let's say both."

Makayla scoffed with a fake smile, noticing Nate already had a drink in his hand.

"So, for how long are you staying?"

"Not for long. Maybe a day or two." Makayla looked up at him.

"That's a shame, I was hoping you'd stay for longer. Not many pretty girls around here." He flirted making her let out a short laugh.

She noticed Nate's eyes scan her body, slowly. As if he was imagining her without clothes.

Makayla's eyes uncomfortably shifted around the room. She could feel the alcohol starting to have an effect when his voice interrupted her thoughts again,

"So, would you like to dance?" He asked downing his drink.

Makayla opened her mouth to say something but closed it as soon as she was about to talk.

She thought about it for a moment. Not knowing what to do but who cared. It was just a dance and she was too hurt and ashamed from the previous night to even give a shit.

And alcohol in her system wasn't helping either.

"Fuck it, why not." She said gaining a smile from him as he reached for the tequila and poured them both a drink. She didn't really wanna drink anymore since she could feel herself start getting tipsy but they both downed it at the same time anyway just before he dragged her to the dance floor among all the people.

She stumbled a little as they both laughed at her tipsy state.

They started to sway in the rythm of the music, laughing and messing around.

Nate spun her around, pressing her hips against him and they moved to the rythm of the music again, her ass pressing against his bottom.

Meanwhile Joel and Tommy entered the basement seeing the revel already in full swing.

"Want a drink?" Tommy looked back at Joel.

"Sure as hell need one brother." Joel agreed and they walked over to the bar taking the open tequila bottle and pouring themselves a drink.

"How was the patrol?" Maria aproached them, kissing Tommy on the cheek.

"It was fine. No infected around." Tommy answered and him and Joel slowly started sipping on the tequila shot.

"Bandits?" Maria asked but he shook his head, "Nothing."

"Finally." The short black haired woman aproached them.

"Joel, this is Tina. She's one of our workers." Tommy introduced them but Tina laughed it off, "We've already talked to each other." She said and her eyes focused on Joel.

Makayla kept dancing with Nate who started getting a bit more touchy. They were now dancing face to face, his hands all over her body. But it didn't feel right. It wasn't Joel's rough large hands. Or his broad shoulders her palms were resting on. Or the warmth of his body. Nothing about Nate reminded her off him yet he was all she could think about.

Talk about the devil she looked to the side, seeing Joel, Tommy, Maria and that woman talking and laughing.

Joel didn't seem to notice Makayla yet as he was leaning against the bar with a glass in his hand and he looked so fucking irresistible it was almost painful. The woman placed her hand against his shoulder while laughing, making Makayla's blood boil.

"Where's the girl?" Tommy suddenly asked, looking at Maria and his question caught Joel's attention as well.

Maria looked around the room, trying to find Makayla and she finally did. She pointed into the crowd of people, "Seems like she's enjoying herself."

Everyone looked to where Maria was pointing to, including Joel.

His eyebrows furrowed as he sized them up. They were so close to each other, dancing so intimately.

He rolled his eyes, taking another sip of his drink but he didn't take his eyes off of them whatsoever.

Makayla's hips moved to the rythm so perfectly and delicately. But the fact Nate was in her presence and so close was clouding up his mind.

"Joel you listenin'?" Tommy asked making Joel snap,

"Yeah I'm fuckin' listenin' Tommy." He fummed, still looking forward.

Nate's hands suddenly moved down to Makayla's ass, grabbing it and pressing her body onto his harshly so there was no space between them.

Makayla's eyes widened in surprise as Nate kept feeling around her body pushing her against him, making her uncomfortable by now.

He bend down about to start kissing her neck but Joel has had enough. Slamming his drink on the table and storming towards them with Tommy on his heels, "Joel what are you doing?!"

He pushed some random guy out of his way to get to them and as he did he pushed into Nate, making him fly away from Makayla and land on his back.
