I walked outside the next morning to see Jake, Madison, Max and the King's all outside playing basketball.

"Well, there she is!" Max announced when I walked out, sporting my bikini top and shorts.

He came over and wrapped an arm around me.

"Mrs. Thomas King!"

I pushed him. "Get away from me, loser."

He was shirtless; like Jake, and (yummy) Thomas and they had been playing basketball with Madison and Melissa.

Thomas blushed and scratched the back of his neck.

Jake smiled and came up behind me and put his hands on my shoulders. He guided me over to Thomas.

"Here he is, Jos."

I rolled my eyes. Thomas smiled at me anyway.

"Well," Madison said, "we'll leave you two to kiss or whatever."

I sighed.

"Bye, Josie," said Jake, ruffling my hair.

I laughed at Thomas.

"Did you tell Jake?"

"Did you tell Melissa?"

We laughed.

"Um... yeah, she kinda figured it out."

"Same."

He took a breath and smiled. "Wanna get some ice cream?"

I nodded. "Yeah," I said, "I would love some ice cream."

We took our time walking to the boardwalk.

Our hands brushed.

"Remind me again why you did that?"

He laughed. He was telling me about the time he and Melissa stole pieces of a wedding cake at their aunt's wedding.

"We were, like, 5 and 7," he said, "we didn't really know any better."

"Your parents must not have been watching."

"Nah, they were dancing."

I laughed. "Charlotte would totally do that."

"What, dance or steal cake?"

I smiled. "Both."

He laced his hand in mine.

We walked into a local ice cream shop, called Miss Lacey's. It was cute, like an old-fashioned ice cream shop.

"Cookie dough?" he asked me when we got to the register.

I laughed. "Yes please."

He ordered us both cookie dough in cones (the best way to have it) and we walked around the block.

I scarfed down my ice cream.

I don't care how old I am; if someone hands me an icecream cone, I will eat the entire thing.

I finished and threw both of ours away. I sat next to him on a bench.

He put a hand on my knee.
