Tony had been busy, busier than he had been in months. It took Fury some convincing to allow him and Bruce to experiment and investigate the scepter. So much so that Fury assigned guards to stand outside the lab and even more cameras in the lab.

The whole thing was a fucking mess.

The Director wanted to put some SHIELD scientists in there to supervise them. Which he responded by saying that no scientist understanding what the hell they were doing. Unless they were in the same mental capacity as him and Bruce. So now, instead of having a scientist in there with them, they have Agent Hill.

Hill isn't as nosy as Fury, but she does ask a lot of questions.

He had been getting more and more annoyed, yearning to be back in his own lab. He wasn't getting anything done here, with Fury being a controlling asshole and the bullshit tech. At least Fury kept their project under wraps, and he did have Bruce. The doctor seemed to be as annoyed as him about the lack of technology and equipment. But not about the precautions. Fury allowed them to actually be examining the scepter in the same room for only 20 minutes and in safety gear that would protect them from nothing. Otherwise, they had to be in the other room. The entire thing made him want to punch someone.

The other Avengers seemed to only be either interrogating Loki or talking about interrogating Loki. Tony had been so busy he hadn't even thought about going in there until Bruce asked if he was going to. It seemed everyone had but him and Clint, though he didn't blame Barton. He told Bruce he'd do it when the work died down more, which Bruce took as an acceptable answer since they needed every second they got.

But maybe that wasn't the truth.

He hadn't slept in a few days, which was normal for him, but he wasn't sleeping just because he had so much to do. A part of him was scared to go to sleep. Because the last time his eyes were closed, he almost died. He didn't want to risk going to sleep, so instead, he pushed on. Of course, he still left the lab to "sleep" so Bruce wouldn't worry, but really he'd just sit in his room either drinking or continuing to work.

He continued to use the work excuse whenever Bruce asked until the doctor wouldn't take that as an answer and forced him to go see him or sleep. So he chose to finally go see the god. He was trying to make tech to save the god if he was being controlled. He had seen ships, so there were other people involved, but not necessarily controlling him.

The whole thing sounded fucking insane. But the last few days had been fucking insane, so it didn't sound as insane as it would have before them.

The guard outside of Loki's cell let him in, and he walked through the door. He stopped realizing there was another door. He didn't really know what two doors were supposed to do. He guessed it would give more time if Loki were to escape. The whole thing seemed like someone thought it would save lives when really it didn't do much.

The second door opened, and he saw the man that no one had been able to stop talking about for the first time in a while. The god smirked at him, and he remembered how much of a dick he was. God, this was a dumb idea. Well, too late to go back now.

"Nice to see you again Reindeer Games," he said.

"Stark," Loki said, his smirk somehow growing.

Tony saw the chair and moved towards it, sitting down. He had no idea what to say to the god, and he hoped that Loki had something to say to him. Or that the Reindeer Games had nothing to say.

"I still haven't gotten that drink."

"Well, I've had a few just for you."

"Comforting notion."
