His eyes ran across the page, reading over every word and letter. Looking for anything of importance, anything that could give him an answer.
Thor needed an answer, and he needed it soon.
This was the sixth book he had looked through on the Midgardian object they called a computer. So far, he had not found a single thing that would be useful in helping Loki. Everyone on Earth seemed to believe magic didn't exist, so anything discussing it was totally inaccurate. He grew angrier as he read on, seeing magic depicted as fictional and how it was treated.
Finally, he couldn't take it anymore, and he punched the screen. It immediately shattered and cracked, and when he pulled his hand out, he saw the messy insides of the machine.
Thor heard the door open and turned to see Steve holding two cups of coffee.
"I didn't know what you wanted in the coffee, so I brought sugar and- Thor, what happened?" Steve said, looking up and seeing the broken computer.
"This Earth object is giving me nothing. It is pathetic," he said.
Steve quickly rushed over and set down the drinks, then looked at Thors' hand.
"Are you okay?"
"I am fine. It did not hurt me."
"That's good."
Steve sat down beside him and handed him the coffee. He took a sip of it, and instantly he was reminded of Jane. He quickly shook her from his head though, he needed to focus. Jane had moved on, and so should he.
"I'm sorry that our resources can't help you," said Steve.
"It is alright. You humans try your best. This computer seems like it could be useful sometimes. But our worlds are very different. Asgard follows certain beliefs and standards that Earth does not."
"You mean with magic, right?"
"Yes, but other things too. The other things don't matter right now, though. I won't be able to find anything that will help my brother here. I need to speak with my Mother. She'd know what to do."
"I thought Loki said that your Mother wouldn't be able to help?"
"That is most likely true. But she may know who is behind this or who could be behind this. She also knows more about mind control than any of us. Maybe she knows some tricks to help."
Thor had thought about going back home to Asgard a while ago, but he didn't want to leave Loki. His brother needed him here. If something happened and he wasn't here to help Loki, he would never forgive himself. But he's realizing now that his brother needs as much help as he can get, which means getting Mother involved.
He wished that she could come to Earth, but she must remain on Asgard. The Queen has to keep watch over the citizens, so if Odin had to leave or a battle was to commence, she would be in charge of keeping everyone safe and well. His Father rarely left Asgard anymore. But knowing that there is a threat out there who is attacking a member of the royal family, there is a good chance that Father would be forced to leave for battle.
The rules were quite unpleasant, and he wished they could be broken, but Thor knew deep down that it was for the citizens of Asgard's protection and wellbeing.
He could at least go home, inform Mother and Father of the situation, gain more knowledge on mind control, and get advice and strategies from Mother. Right now, his parents are mostly in the dark, though he doesn't know if Heimdall informed them of what has happened so far.
