He ran his hands through his hair, feeling the drowsiness all over his body. He knew that most people would drag themselves back to bed until exhaustion took them over and they finally fell asleep.
But Tony wasn't most people.
He had once again experienced a way too realistic nightmare. After spending a long time trying to get out of bed without waking up Pepper, he finally managed to escape the room. And of course, the place he went to was his workshop.
People can have their comfort gyms or coffee shops. Tony had his comfort workshop.
It seemed the room warded off evil spirits. Like there was some kind of magic to it. Though now he really could have magic in here, since he knows now that magic really exists. Fuck, he has so many questions to ask Loki once he's physically, mentally, and emotionally sound. Or even before then, if he needs a distraction. He's the best at distractions.
He sighed, stood up, and walked over to the elevator. He needed his hourly coffee.
Pepper had made sure the coffee maker was put into the kitchen so that he wouldn't drink an obnoxious amount of coffee without her knowing.
But he still drank an obnoxious amount of coffee. He just made sure to do it mostly secretly. Meaning he wiped the cameras clean. And he had a secret trash can and cabinet full of all the coffee supplies. He hadn't had enough time to order another dispenser secretly and hide it somewhere in the workshop.
So he'd deal with the many elevator trips for now.
The elevator doors opened, and he walked out into the room, heading straight to the counter. He glanced over towards the windows, and that's when he stopped. A figure was in front of one, standing completely still and tensely. His large, muscular body alerted Tony to who it was immediately. But the short blonde hair did help.
Steve Rogers.
Tony had wanted to talk to Steve for days now, but he never could find an opportunity. He had been busy dealing with the fallout of the Loki situation, and just when he had the time, Rogers was then busy helping Thor. He honestly hadn't seen Steve much lately, though he had been spending most of his time in the workshop, which he's pretty sure Steve doesn't know exists.
"Are you just going to stand there and stare?" said Steve, startling him.
"Jesus Christ, Rogers. You're going to give me a heart attack," he responded, walking towards him.
"That would be pretty impressive considering your status."
"Is that a sense of humor in you, old man?" Tony said, surprised that Steve even knew of that.
"Speaking of old man, was my room theme necessary?"
"What? You didn't like it? I was just making sure it was accessible."
"There's a railing on every wall, like 3 walkers, and you put a bunch of pictures from the 40s on the wall."
"Wanted to remind you of home."
Steve was silent, and the pair stood next to one another, staring out the window at the tall lit-up skyscrapers.
"Early morning or late night?" Tony asked.
"Early morning."
"Aw, we're twinning."
Steve looked at him confused, and Tony rolled his eyes.
