Strange arrives back in the sanctum and goes to your room to check on you. He opens the door to find your bed empty, he feels his stomach drop and he frantically swung your door open, searching your bathroom and you weren’t there.

“Shit. Shit. Shit” is all he can mutter out in the blind panic he was in.

He is about to head out into the city and search for you when he spots a little piece of paper on your pillow. He walks over to your bed and carefully picks it up
“It’s probably too late to say don’t panic. I’m in the library x”

Strange lets out a sigh of relief and turns on his heel and heads straight to the library. He walks in and gives the room a quick glance, he couldn’t see you but then he heard the distinctive rustle of pages turning and he slowly followed it.

Working down the aisles of the library, he found you curled up on a bay windowsill, window cracked open with a book in hand.

The sunset hitting you perfectly, giving your face the perfect auburn glow, making your dark brown eyes shine that brighter and deeper.

He was mesmerised by you. Completely entranced. He had a small smirk on his face as he crossed his arms across his chest and lent against the adjacent bookshelf, just taking you in.

You were too engulfed in the book to even know he was back, let alone watching you. You took a minute away from the pages to admire the view. Golden rays streaming through the gaps between the buildings and giving the skyline a beautiful backdrop. You stretched.

“Good book?” Strange finally speaks.

You jump at his sudden presence. “Bloody hell Strange, give a girl a little warning next time” You say in between gasps of breath, clutching your chest as you feel your heart racing against your ribs.

“Apologises sweetheart, want some food or have you eaten?” Strange asks.

“I’m starving, food sounds incredible” you say enthusiastically.

Strange chuckles as he looks towards the floor, looking up through his lashes at you he smirks, and you flash him a smile.

“I’ll get us something, stay, finish your book. I can see you’re nearly at the end there” he points towards the book that you had your finger in, keeping the page you were on.

You look down and laugh “I’m a little bit of a book worm, don’t judge. It’s my escape” you let the last bit slip out without realising but you weren’t mad about it.

You trusted him and that felt good.

Strange senses you were a little taken back by the revelation. He smiles remembering what Bucky said to him “She trusts you, she will talk, she will open up”. He smiles.

“No judgements here, just make sure you eat and drink whilst you’re in your escapism.” Strange carefully advises, whilst watching you carefully.

An eye roll. A deep sigh. Subtle shake of the head. Straight back into the book. The boys were right, telling you to make sure you take care of yourself really did get on your nerves. Let the games begin.

-1 hour later-

You’re sat opposite Strange with pizza in front of you. Curled up in the armchairs, legs tucked up to your chest and in an oversized hoodie, hair falling down in loose curls.

“Wouldn’t have put you down for a pizza man, definitely had you down a sushi guy” you say sceptically.

Strange lets out a huffed laugh “hey, don’t judge a book by its cover. I was once a simple neurosurgeon; pizza was my only source of nutrition.”
