Rejection [A Bensler Fan Fic]

Eighteen

Elliot stood outside of Olivia's room while the doctors looked her over. Miles was resting on his father's hip as they watched and tried to gauge the situation.

"Elliot?" Serena called, as quickly walked down the hall and to where they stood.

"Mama is awake!" Miles yelled, before Elliot could even tell Serena what was happening.

"Olivia is awake?" Serena breathed, as she froze in her spot. Elliot moved down to where she stood before gently grabbing her arm.

"She's awake. She woke up when Miles was talking to her... they are running a few quick tests on her before sending her down for brain scans. They haven't told us what is happening yet." Elliot breathed.

"I need to get to her. Can you call Doug and Matty?"

"Y-yeah, of course. Uh, but when you find out..." Elliot trailed off with a frown because Serena was already walking away from him and heading towards Olivia's room.

"She didn't let you finish." Miles frowned, and Elliot nodded.

"I know, but she just wanted to see Mama. Don't worry, we will only be gone for a few minutes."

Elliot made the calls for Serena, before also calling his parents. Bernie and Joseph came up, but Elliot didn't have any updates for them. Serena, Doug, and Matt were in Olivia's room and wouldn't share any additional information on her or her current condition.

"They need to tell us what is happening." Bernie sighed as she gently rubbed her son's back.

"They don't have to tell us anything." Elliot frowned.

"No, they do. You are her fiance and Miles is her son."

"We made deals where Serena would tell me if something happened when I was gone, and I'd do the same for her. That is why I called her... but now she won't even let me in to see Olivia." Elliot frowned.

"It looks like they are taking her down for a scan or something." Joseph spoke, as he pointed to where Olivia's bed was being pushed from the room. Elliot jumped up quickly before running down the hall.

"Liv?" Elliot asked quickly, but Doug grabbed Elliot and stopped him from following Olivia down the hall.

"They are taking her for several brain scans. We were told to get something to eat and drink, because the wait will be long."

"Can you give me an update at all?" Elliot asked.

"Elliot, just go sit down and wait." Doug sighed.

"I'm her fiance, Doug. I don't understand why you are withholding information from me! I have a kid over there that doesn't know why he got to see his Mama, but now neither of us can." Elliot huffed.

"She's awake and not seizing. That is all you need to know right now. So go back and wait, and don't make me tell you again." Doug warned Elliot, before turning and walking back into the room.

Elliot was so beyond confused about what was happening, and why Doug and Serena seemed to hate him all of a sudden. Elliot ended up taking Miles downstairs to get a very early breakfast. They sat down there for a while, before the night nurse came and sat down beside Miles.

"Michelle? What are you doing down here?" Elliot asked.

"I know that no one is telling you anything. That Olivia's parents are hiding things from you. So I wanted to tell you why."

"Did I do something wrong? Because Olivia and I... she's my other half and I wouldn't do anything to hurt her intentionally."

"They think you did."

"I'm confused... I have taken care of her to the best of my ability since the accident. I brush her hair and wash her face... I bring Miles up to see her whenever I have a chance... I don't hurt her." Elliot sniffled as tears slipped down his cheeks.

"Do you and Olivia do things... unprotected?" Michelle asked, and Elliot's face went dark red as he nodded.

"Sometimes. With him around, we usually do things when we can. Olivia finally feels like we are going to stay together so she wanted to do things." Elliot mumbled.

"The doctors ran a few blood tests after she woke up to see if she had cleared her infection... she is in the span where we check for pregnancy. It came back positive."

"She's pregnant? How does that happen?" Elliot whispered as Miles continued to eat his oatmeal and play on his tablet.

"Serena and Doug think that you slept with her while she was in a coma, since she's only four weeks along. They think you raped her."

"Oh no." Elliot whispered. He had felt like his world was falling apart the day Olivia got hit, but now he felt worse. He felt like he'd go to jail for something he'd never do. 

"When was the last time you two had sex?"

"The night before she got hit..."

"That is probably when it happened."

"They won't believe me. They probably think I hurt her... I'd never do that... don't you guys have cameras in her room?!" Elliot exclaimed.

"We do, and I'm going to make sure they look at them. I know you didn't hurt her, that you didn't rape her when she was in a coma."

"I can't believe she is pregnant." Elliot whispered. He didn't think that this would be when he'd find out Olivia was pregnant. He expected it to happen in a few years when they actually were married and had a house. Not when Olivia just woke up from a month long coma.

"Congrats, Elliot... but don't celebrate yet. She is still so weak, and no one knows if she'll keep this pregnancy."

"Even if she does, who says I'll be free to watch my kid grow up... I'm already labeled a monster."

When Elliot went back upstairs with Miles, several detectives were waiting for him.

"Elliot Stabler?" One asked, and Elliot nodded as he sat Miles on the floor.

"Yes sir, one moment." Elliot breathed. He looked at his son and kissed his forehead before sending him to where his parents sat.

"We need you to come with us." He spoke, and Elliot nodded.

"I know what this is about. I'm telling the truth when I say that I didn't rape my fiancee. That I didn't impregnate her while she was in a coma. So you can take me to your station and try to pin this one me... but Olivia and I had sex, unprotected, before the accident. The night before, and I can promise you that is when it happened."
