LORENZO BERKSHIRE
I couldn't stop thinking about her.
It felt almost impossible to avoid looking at Eloise during class but I couldn't stop.
I noticed that whenever she's focused, she lightly bites her lip or that she fiddles with her rings when she gets distracted.
She'd stare blankly at the wall which to others, they probably wouldn't notice but I sat wondering, 'what is she thinking about'- whether it be a thoughtless day dream, pondering over obsessive thoughts or analysing her own self.
I couldn't tell.
Eloise has always been my best friend, my confidant. We've watched each other grow, laughed together, cried together and shared some of our most intimate secrets.
Eloise slowly closed the door behind her, the muffled sounds of Lucille's cries fading into the background.
"How is she?" I asked
"Not good," Eloise muttered. "I can't believe what happened to Cedric, it's awful".
"I'm not even sure of how to help Lucy through this," I exhaled sharply.
A puzzled look spread across Eloise's face, as she picked at her fingernails.
"Oise, what's wrong?" I questioned, placing a hand on her shoulder.
"I don't know how to explain it," Eloise spoke, her gaze trained to the floorboard.
"Come on, let's go talk in front of the fire place".
We walked beside each other in silence until we reached the leather lounges of an empty common room.
It was quiet inside Slytherin House. No one knew how to react at a time like this.
"Is there something more than Cedric's death that is bothering you?" I asked.
"It's my fault," Eloise whispered softly, as a small tear ran down her cheek.
"What makes you say that?"
"Around 10 minutes before Harry returned, I could feel it".
"Feel what, Oise?"
"It was passed down to me by my Mother. I get almost this instinct when something bad is about to happen. I've never really practiced it because my mother explained that at times it could do her more harm than good. I'm not sure how to explain it, it just happens. I ignored it and look what happened to Cedric," Her voice broke into sobs and I pulled her into my arms.
"Eloise, this is not your fault. I promise. Yes, you may have felt something but you couldn't have known this would happen," I reassured.
"A boy is dead. Not just any boy, Lucille's boyfriend".
"She will be ok. It's horrible circumstances but none as a result of you".
Through everything, I have and will always love Eloise.
Not saying 'in love' but our connection in a platonic way is unbreakable. So whilst kissing Eloise was long awaited, it terrified me.
