MAG-AALAS onse na ng gabi nang makauwi si Vincent sa bahay nila. Kakatapos lang niyang ihatid si Jonabel. Pinasamahan kasi ito sa kanya ng mga magulang nito sa debut party ng kaibigan nito. Siya ang naging escort nito sa party. Kagaya ng dati ay nagkaroon siya ng masayang oras kahit na ba hindi niya kaedad ang mga dumalo sa party. Hindi siya gaanong nakaka-relate sa pinag-uusapan ng karamihan at kagaya pa rin ng dati si Jonabel sa kanya. Ilang pa rin ito sa kanya. Ngunit basta kasama niya si Jonabel ay masaya siya sa kabila ng pagtrato nito.

Nagulat si Vincent nang makita niyang gising pa rin ang kanyang mga magulang na tila ba inaantay ang pagdating niya. Nasa malaking living room ito ng bahay. Kapwa pa maganda ang ngiti ng mga ito. Pinaupo siya ng mga ito sa sofa kaharap ng kinauupuan ng mga ito.

"So how's the party? How's Jonabel? Did you two have a good time?" sunod-sunod na tanong ng kanyang ina. Ngiting-ngiti ito.

Sinagot niya ang mga magulang.

"Good to hear then. I love it when you spend time with her, Vincent."

"I'm having the best time of my life, too, when I'm with her, Eomeoni," Kahit na madalas, parang civil lang niya ako kung ituring, okay lang. Wala, eh. Ganoon yata talaga kapag nagmamahal. Nagpapaka-martyr. Tinatanggap lahat basta makasama lang siya.

Tumango-tango ang dalawa. Kapagkuwan ay sumeryoso ang mukha ng dalawa. Nagsalita ang kanyang ama. "Adeul, we want to talk something important about you..."

Kumunot ang noo ni Vincent. "Is that why you are still awake at this time? Is that really important?"

"It is. We know we can talk about it some other time....but because we already have a hint of how you are feeling with Jonabel, I think we can discuss it now..."

"So it's about me and Jonabel? What is it?"

Tumingin muna ang kanyang ama sa asawa. "You and Jonabel....we want you to be together. We actually have arranged your marriag."

Nabigla si Vincent sa narinig. "What are you talking about, Abeoji? Are you serious?"

Tumango ang kanyang ama. "When we are young, Min ho and I had discuss that we want our children to end up being together. It was just meant not to be serious until we have you and their company in distress..."

Kumunot ang noo ni Vincent. Kagaya nila ay mayaman at makapangyarihan rin ang pamilya ni Jonabel. May malaking kompanya rin ang mga ito sa Korea kagaya ng mga magulang niya. "What do you mean?"

"I helped their company not because Min Ho and I are best friends. It was because he gave Jonabel a bargain. We saw the fondness you have from Jonabel. We thought that it would be good if we have arranged for you to be married to her. Min Ho's family loves you, too. We wanted you both for each other so we can officially be one whole big happy family."

"B-but isn't that unfair?"

Lumapit sa kanya ang ama. Hinawakan nito ang balikat niya. "Arranged marriages usually happened in Korea, Vincent. Me and your mother, we are also a product of that. We did just fine though. We are happy. I know it might not be a good news to you since you are not used to this culture... But because we saw how happy you are when you are with Jonabel, we agreed."

Tumango-tango si Vincent. "You are right. I like Jonabel so for me, there wouldn't be any problem. But did Jonabel know about this? How did she react? Did she accept it?"

Nagkatinginan ang kanyang mga magulang. "Min Ho and Joanna already talked about it with her. They said she did accept it wholeheartedly. There wouldn't be any problem, Vincent..."

Sa mga sinabing iyon ng magulang ay nabuhayan ng loob si Vincent.
