That same night in Riverclan when Stormberry laid in her nest, letting troubling thoughts swell into her brain, little did she know another cat was doing the very same.
In the warrior's den in the ThunderClan camp, Brambleclaw lay awake in his nest. He too let thoughts overtake him as he slept.
How many cats know, if any, about my relationship with Stormberry?
Did Hawkfrost know?
Was it all my fault?
Thoughts like these raced about his mind that night. And he believed them.
It is my fault.
I put Firestar in danger with the reckless time I spent in the Dark Forest.
I killed my brother.
I put the one I love in danger.
The more these thoughts circled about the tom's brain the more scared he got; not for his own life, but for Stormberry's. He hated the thought that he might have hurt her and never wanted to feel that way again.
The warrior then knew what he had to do. They both did.
It wasn't your fault. He was asleep before that final thought reached his mind. If only he'd heard it.
If only they both had.
