Chapter 21
It's been a week since I last spoke to Logan. I still haven't figured out exactly what I am going to tell him. It would mean that I have to tell him everything about Dillon and I and I am just not ready to go down that path. Not until I figure out what Bruce is up to.
"Here you go," Blake lays down three large manila folders down in front of me.
"What are these?" I ask looking up from my computer screen. I have been working hard on my NYU app too keep me busy.
"Every legal document that I could pull on your mom, dad, and Bruce," She moves and takes a seat next to me.
"Oh," I smile at her. "Thank you."
"Of course sweetie, it is the least that I can do," she rubs my back. "Is everything okay with you and Logan? He hasn't been around and I tried to ask Elizabeth is everything was okay with you two but she wouldn't say anything. She is a very loyal friend."
"Yeah, she is," I tell her. I close my laptop screen and turn towards Blake. "My ex was contacted by Bruce and he brought him here. I never told Logan about him and I don't know what to tell him."
"The truth," Blake states. "It hurts but he deserves it. Logan has already stuck by your side through everything that has happened so far so I am sure that he will understand."
"It isn't that simple though," I whisper. Blake sighs and reaches out and takes my hand in hers.
"It never is Amelia. But keeping something like this from him is going to drive you two apart. Logan is good for you. You seem to be at ease every time he is around and your smile is genuine. If Bruce brought this other boy up here to throw you through a loop, then you are giving him the power right now. What you need to do is stay alert and to not give into his plans." She pauses and looks around the room, probably looking for Liz. My eyes scan the small place and there is no sign of her. Blake leans in closer to me and start to whisper. "I looked into your background and I know almost everything that Bruce has done to you and your family. I have some friends that work for the F.B.I. and they are helping me to keep you safe."
"What all do you know?" I ask in a shaky voice. I had a feeling that Blake was going to look into my past but there are some things that are best to stay in the past.
"That while you were staying at the home you tried to escape multiple times and you were successful once but you were caught by Bruce," she softly tells me. I sit up a little straighter and my blood freezes. Dillon and I never truthfully said what had really happened. "Why didn't file a report that he beat both you and Dillon?"
"It wasn't that simple Blake." The tears started to form at the thought of that night. "It wasn't like we could just go to the police and report it. We would've gotten punished by Miss Grace. The things she did to us..." I shook my head as the horrifying memories of being beaten started to creep back. "It was best to just return back to the hell hole and never speak of it again."
"The doctors said that you may have permanent damage to your ribs."
"Dillon is probably worse off than I am," I tell her. Dillon saved me from Bruce and if he wasn't there to save me, I would probably be dead.

"Do you have everything?" I whisper to Dillon. Tonight is the night that we escape from this hell hole. We had been planning for weeks of how we were going to leave and where we were going to go.
"Yeah, do you have the gun?" he softly asks. I nod my head and pat my backpack.
"Okay I will be back in an hour when everyone goes to dinner; just like we planned." He moves closer to me and wraps his arms around my waist and brings me closer to him.
