Eight freaking hours. That is how long it took to correct my hair color. Liz wanted nothing to do with me when we got home. I don't blame her. I was in a really bad mood. My head hurt so badly and I was tired. About half way through I was ready to walk out of the salon and not go to school today. But I knew that Logan would be disappointed if I didn't come to school.

My alarm went off at 5:00 am and Liz slammed her hand on the alarm clock, snoozing it, before rolling over to go to sleep. I got up from my bed and took advantage of the bathroom before Liz. I was able to shower and blow dry my hair before she came barging in.

"Why didn't you wake me up?" she shouts.

"You were the one who pressed snooze and you know how you get if I wake you up," I sass back at her. I am extremely nervous for today. It is the start of living a normal life, something that I haven't had since my parents died.

"I turned on the curling iron in our room," she starts to shove me out of the bathroom. "I'll be there in five minutes to curl your hair and do your makeup." She slams the bathroom door in my face as I was about to say thanks but decided she didn't deserve it. I walked into our room and dumped my pajamas in my laundry basket before going to the kitchen to grab something to eat.

"Smells good," I smile at Blake as I take a seat at the counter.

"Thanks," she smiles. "Today is a big day for you girls, so I decided to make you breakfast and I made your lunches."

"I thought I was getting out early"

"Elizabeth is, but unfortunately you are behind in credits. Some of your classes didn't transfer over and," she shakes her head and sighs. "I'm so sorry. I know you and Logan and Elizabeth had something planned but some things are out of my hands." She hands me a paper plate full of fruit, pancakes, eggs, and sausage.

"It's okay," I try to smile. "I really appreciate what you have done for me. Thank you Blake."

Blake walks around the counter and hugs me. "You're welcome sweetie"

"Smells yummy Ma," Liz waltzes into the kitchen.

"Eat up," she smiles at her daughter as she pushes a plate just as full as mine in front of her. Liz starts to gush about how excited she is to be at a new school and I just tune her out like I usually do. I love her but she won't stop talking, no matter what time it is. I cut up my pancakes and take a bite. They were so fluffy that they just melted in my mouth. I close my eyes and take another bite, smiling. I've missed having home cooked food.

It's been years since I have had good pancakes. Dillon and I used to sneak into the kitchen on Sundays and make pancakes.

Knock, knock, knock

I lazily sat up and rub my eyes. I look at my clock and it is 9:30. I slept in this morning missing breakfast and my stomach is growling like crazy.

Knock, knock, knock

I leap off my bed and slowly open my door only to see Dillon.

"Yes?" I gingerly ask.

"We missed you at breakfast," he smiles. I laugh.

"We?" I raise my eyebrows at him knowing that no one missed me. I am just a damaged misfit that no one likes.
