Logan: Portland Private High School....why?

Me: just wondering

Logan: Uhh huhh suree

Me: Are you busy at the moment?

Logan: Well I should be doing homework but do you want to me to pick you up?

Me: please..i'm at a motel.

I finish typing the instructions and press send. Liz left the room and I just need to clear my head. Logan said he would be here in 5 minutes. I get up and slip on my new tennis shoes. I went to grab a jacket when I heard his voice outside.

"Yeah....I'll be back in Cali soon" There is a pause. "No, keep them safe. She will be after them soon"

Logan: Here

Me: Room 108

There is a knock at the door. I open up the door and I see Logan in black skinny jeans and a PPHS hoodie. I raise my finger up to my lips and he nods. I grab my backpack and pull my hood over my head. Logan silently turns and walks towards his car.

"No I can't find her... I thought I found her but it wasn't her" the frustration evident in his voice. "I know there is a debt to pay.."

I open the car door and climb in as fast as I could. I let out a sob that I was holding in. Logan turns in confusion and I raise my hands to my face.

"Is..is everything ok?" he asks. All I do is nod my head no. I am so scared. Liz, who I thought was my friend turned out to be someone else. And Bruce is still hot on my trail. What debt needs to be paid? I can't stay at the motel any longer but I have nowhere to go.

We pull up to a single story house. I get out of the car and the next thing I know Logan is pulling me into his embrace. I wrap my arms around him and let the rest of the tears flow.

"I know that we just met", he chuckles, "But Amy know that you can always talk to me if you need someone to talk to"

"Thanks" I mumble as we pull apart.

"Come on let's get inside before you freeze" he laughs to help brighten my mood. I follow him inside his house can't help but notice that for the few seconds that we were hugging I felt something that I haven't felt in years.

Security. Warmth.

We reach the kitchen and he turns to move closer to me. He raises his hand to wipe away a few tears that escaped. His gentle touch on my cheek sends a jolt of electricity that courses through my body.

"Are you hungry?" he asks. Our bodies are inches apart. The smell of cologne surrounds me and it takes a few moments to realize that he asked me about food.

"Yeah, a little bit" I finally was able to muster out the words.

"Good" he turns away from me and opens up the freezer and pulls out a carton of mint chip ice cream. I watch him open a drawer with utensils and he pulls out two spoons.

"Right this way"

He heads down a dark hall and opens his door. I step into his room as he flips on the lights. There is a King size bed, a desk and a flat screen mounted on the wall with wires attached to it.

"Do you play video games?" He asks as he plops down onto his bed. He kicks off his shoes and pats the empty spot on his bed that is meant for me.

"No" I take off my back pack and leaving it and my shoes by the door. I climb onto the bed next to him. He turns on a white box and hands me a purple controller. The screen turns on and a black circle with a green X flashes breifly on the screen before a paused game appears. He takes the remote from my hands and starts to show me what the different buttons do. It's all confusing to me.

"I'll just watch you play" I finally say.

"But that's no fun" he whines before taking a bite of ice cream. I grab the other spoon and take a small scoop. I stare at the green, creamy substance thinking of a way to eat this.

"it's okay to eat" Logan laughs. "I'm not trying to poison you"

I laugh and shake my head. "I don't want to double dip" I tell him as he sticks his spoon back into the carton.

"I don't care." he shrugs. I raise the spoon up to my lips and wrap them around the spoon. I close my eyes and the minty chocolate ice cream melts in my mouth. I just took a bite of heaven. I slowly open my eye, craving more of the ice cream, and Logan is staring at me.

"What?" I asked.

"Nothing" he says turning his attention back to the screen. I watch him play his game, which I find out is called Halo.

"Have you ever met someone and then find out that they were deceiving you from the start?" I ask him. Liz and her proposal have been weighing me down and I would do anything to have a normal life. If her parents are actually lawyers then maybe they would be able to help me. But is it a risk that I am willing to take.

"Yeah" he pauses his game and turns towards me. I take another bite of ice cream realizing that I ate more than half of it.

"How did you deal with it?" I ask him.

"I'm still dealing with it" he chuckles. I cock my head to the side, confused and curious, waiting for him to continue.

"My parents aren't actually my parents" he says slowly. "I just found out that my biological parents were murdered when I was five."
