The letters

Chapter 16

~Eren POV~

Mikasa has 1 week left to live, according to the letter. In the last 2 weeks, there has been about 3 letters. Mikasa's condition has gotten worse. She breaths harder, shorter and faster. I'm getting concerned. Since I can't get sick, I sleep with Mikasa every night. We stay in her room. Armin and Sasha spend every day researching about the virus. 

When morning approached, everyone came to Mikasa's room. I said," What did you find?" Armin shook his head," I looked through every single book in the library, and didn't find any. Sasha, Connie, Second Commander Hange, Captain Levi and Jean also helped. But they said that they found nothing. 

Mikasa coughed and said," Yeah about that.......I um, I hid a book under your bed. The book was given to me by your dad. And it explains all about the virus. But I didn't want to tell you-" Jean didn't let Mikasa finish and shouted," Mikasa! You can't do that! You need to tell us about that!" 

I glared at him," Listen here Jean. It doesn't matter that Mikasa told us so late. She has a week left, so we still fix it." Mikasa said," It's under your bed, Eren." She went into a coughing fit again. I said," Why don't you all go find the book, and get the vaccine." 

Armin nodded and they left. Mikasa had stopped coughing. I asked," Hey Mikasa, I found 3 letters outside your door, do you want me to read it to you?" She nodded her head. I got up to fetch the letter. I read the envelopes:

1) To my dear sister, Mikasa

2) To my niece, Mikasa

3) To my girlfriend, Mikasa <3

As I read the last one, I gasped and asked," Mikasa, you have a boyfriend?" She shook her head," No, never had one." I said," Okay, which one should I read first?" She answered," Read the one from my sister first, then the one from my aunt and finally the one from my supposed 'boyfriend'." I nodded. I took the letter out of the envelope and started:

To my dear bitch of a sister

Hey sis! Your condition should be getting worse. Let me guess, Eren is reading this. Anyway, Eren, tell Mikasa she must tell you about our backstory. I wanted to send you this letter to remind you that I hate you! And that I will never forgive you for what you did! And don't say that it was dad's fault! You know it was yours! Anyway, you suck, and Eren will belong to me! You don't deserve him. Anyway, bye! Love you! By the way, you've got 2 weeks left to live. Make it worth while.

I finished reading. I asked," Mikasa, why does your sister hate you so much?" Mikasa said," I'll uh, I'll tell you when you finish reading all 3 letters." I nodded my head." Okay, I'm going to read the one from your aunt." She nodded her head. I started:

To my dear beloved niece, Mikasa

Hello, my darling! You wouldn't remember me, as we met when you were about 6 years old. Anyway, I wanted to notify you that your sister moved to Paradis. I tried to stop her, but I couldn't. And yes, I did threaten her but she didn't listen. Please be careful. You know how much your sister hates you, I don't want her killing you. Anyway, your uncle wants me to go, see you!

I said," Wow, seems like your aunt really cares about you." She held my arm and said," No, she doesn't. The only reason she cares about me, is because of my title. My dad said years ago, that my aunt is responsible for all Ackermans." 

I shook my head. I took the final letter," And finally, the most interesting one. I really want to know what is in here!" She sighed and said," Eren, b-before you read that, I wanna tell you something." I looked at her," Just know that I will stay by your side no matter what. No one can change my mind, so don't worry about what you are about to read." 

I nodded. I held her tight, smiled and said," I'm not worried. You belong to me, and I'm pretty sure I've told you that before." She gave a small laugh. I started to read:

To my love, Mikasa^_^

You probably won't remember me, but I'm Inru Haita! We were best friends since birth. I was your secret boyfriend remember. No, you wouldn't. To me we were dating, but I don't think the same for you. Anyway, I heard you are going to die in a week. I wanted to ask if you would go on a date with me. I hope you'll say yes. If you do, I swear I'll make you so happy. You'll forget about your sister and everything else. Please, give me the please of taking you out.

I crumpled the paper before I finished." Who does this guy think he is! Inru Haita, is it?" I got angry and Mikasa giggled," I said not to worry. I'm not leaving your side. Did he say where to meet him?" I opened it up and said," Yeah, by the gate of Wall Rose. Ugh, I really don't want to meet him." 

Mikasa smiled," We're not going to." I smiled. I sat next to Mikasa, as I had stood up in a rage." Mikasa, why does your sister hate you so much? Could you tell me the backst-" The door opened. Armin said," Uh Mikasa, we can't find the book." "What!" 

I shouted. Mikasa faintly said," Here, let me look." I said," No, I will go look." Mikasa sat back down." Fine." I said," You all stay with her. Give me one sec." I left and went to my room. Mikasa said that the book was under my bed. 

I looked under my bed and didn't see anything. I looked closer and saw a plank that was uneven. I picked it up and saw a a book. It was dusty. I picked it up. I brought it back to them. Armin jumped up," You found it! Now we can save Mikasa!" 

I smiled. Armin opened the book and said," Um, Eren? I don't understand this language? Can any of you read this?" Armin passed the book around and noone could read it. Finally, I passed it to Mikasa. She said," Yeah, I understand this perfectly." 

We all looked confused at her. To us, it made no sense. But to her, she understood it. I said," You're going to need to help then, Mikasa. We need you to read it so Armin can understand." She nodded her head. I said," But before you start that, could you tell me your backstory?" She nodded her head. Jean asked," What backstory?" 

I replied," Mikasa and her sister don't get along well. and I wanna understand why." They nodded their heads. Sasha excitedly said," Same! I also wanna hear it!" She said," Okay okay! Calm down! I'll tell you guys, ONLY if you can keep quiet." 

We nodded our heads. I got into the bed, next to Mikasa. Jean complained," Why do you get to sit next to Mikasa." I smirked while looking at Mikasa," Don't worry about that." Mikasa sighed," Anyway, you guys listening?" We replied," Yes." She said," Okay, where do I begin-"
