Chapter 5:
Percy gets a New Cabin MateNot gonna lie, Camp Halfblood did not look pretty. Parts of the ground were scorched, walls and roofs were cracked or partly destroyed, people were sharpening swords, even on patrol again, this time led by Annabeth. However, Vandhaul still wanted to see me after all this.
"Did you speak to Chiron?" Vandhaul asked,
"Yes," I answered, "Percy, Annabeth and Tyson spoke to him, then he went off."
"Either way," Vandhaul said, "I've talked to Mr D. He still gets my name wrong, but he agrees that in these times, you must learn to defend yourselves properly."
"You mean like you've been doing me for the past year?" I asked, smiling at him,
"Precisely," Vandhaul replied, letting out a hearty laugh, "Now then, go catch up with people, I need to check if the war room's ping pong table is set up."
"Yes sir," I answered before making my way to the Cabins.
It was still a sight, people were injured, cabin windows were boarded up and everything was more or less a mess. However, people still seemed to have some form of high spirit among the campers.
"Looking good Redgrave," a familiar voice said,
"Charlie Beckendorf," I said, "Just the Son of Hephaestus I wanted to see, how've you been?"
"I've been okay," he said, "Even with camp in a bit of a mess right now."
"Yea," I said, "But if you have a minute," I presented Ebony to Charlie, "A custom M1911 Handgun, chambered for .45 ACP rounds. Also known as Ebony. Built by Nell Goldstein."
I gave it to Charlies, who examined it and held it,
"It definitely is the work of Nell," He said, "Modified for inclusion of a pivot trigger, not bad Lux." he tossed the gun back to me, "How did you get it?"
"Ebony was my Dad's gun, he gave it to me last year." I explained,
"Oh," Charlie said, his expression looking solemn,
"Charlie," I said, "Don't sweat it, I've had a year to come to terms with my Dad's decision, besides, we have more pressing matters," I placed my arm over his shoulders, "Have you asked out Silena yet?"
He started laughing, "Hardly," Charlie said, "You really me: a Child of Hephaestus has a chance with the Head Counsellor of the Aphrodite Cabin?"
"Yes," I said, "Come on dude, you're strong, genuine, talented and a master of your craft."
"Which includes those bulls being reprogrammed," he added,
"Having an easier plow would make for quick strawberry farming for the Dionysus Cabin." I said,
"Yea," He agreed, "Anyway, Silena wanted to see you, best you go see what she wants before dinner."
"Definitely," I said, "Remember the last time she was angry?"
"She was brutal." Charlie answered, "Anyway, see you around Lux,"
"You two Charlie," I said, giving him a fist bump and walking to the Aphrodite Cabin,
On the way I did speak to some more people, telling people where to take additional weapons and spoils of war. (Many of which were Devil Arms.) And thus, getting to the cabin took half an hour.
Thankfully, Silena was waiting for me outside. And the first thing she does is hug me,
"I've missed you Hellboy." she said,
