Chapter 10:

Saved by Clarisse and Her Merry Band of Undead Confederates

I didn't arrive back until morning, it's not easy, who knows what Bob Barbes could say about me for being Mundus's number one enemy. Anyway, the second I got back to them, trudging through much more swampy waters. I woke everyone up straight away and talked to them all in regards to everything I knew.

"Bob Barbes," Percy asked, "even his name sounds like trouble."

"If he's working for Kronos within the media then that'll make quests way harder than normal for us." Annabeth said, she turned to me, "We've got to meet with Clarisse, today." She sat down, still looking at me, "So how do you know the Hunters of Artemis?"

"Simple really," I answered, "I worked with Zoë Nightshade last year. How do you know them?" Annabeth remained silent, "If you don't want to talk about that's fine."

"Come on guys," Percy said, shaking Tyson, "Let's get moving now. The quicker we get to the harbour, the sooner we can help Clarisse."

"Percy's right," I said, "We can use the alleyways to get to the Harbour. Then we make our way to the Fleece."

We gathered some supplies and food on the way to the harbour and ventured through the back alleyways of the city and eventually found our way to the harbour. When we started looking for a boat to commendier, I began sweating, don't get me wrong, I'm wearing black, in the summer, whilst also in Miami heat, but I never really sweated in the summer heat, something didn't settle well,

Tyson turned around and looked in shock, "Fire spider!" he yelled,

We all turned and began moving backwards, it was so hot that it was making the air around give off a heat haze, it scoffed, "A bunch of small ones." it said, "However that power, I sensed something more."

"Is that a monster or demon?" Percy asked,

"Definitely a Demon." I said, "It would've jumped for Annabeth straight away otherwise."

Percy looked at me with confusion, "What?" He asked,

"Spiders hate Children of Athena," I explained, "And Children of Athena have Arachnophobia."

"Yeah," Annabeth said, her voice shaky, she looked like she was about to stop moving completely, "Good job on telling everyone about the demonic spiders that are made of lava."

"Well," I said sarcastically, "Obviously, I wanted to destroy the Athena Cabin," I then shouted, "OBVIOUSLY I DIDN'T KNOW!"

"Hey!" It exclaimed, "My name is Phantom!"

"Whatever!" Myself, Percy and Annabeth exclaimed back,

"Honestly," Phantom growled, "I miss Mallet Island."

"Wait a minute," I said, "Mallet Island?" I began to ponder on what Phantom just said, "But dad destroyed that place a year before I was born." I looked back at Phantom, "Okay, you've intrigued me, who's your master, Phantom?"

"Father?" Phantom asked, "Impossible!" it shouted, it then made gestures and movements that indicated that it was trying to smell me, it then roared, it was a mixture of a tarantula hissing and a distorted lion roar. Making me back up by instinct, and showing that it had a scorpion tail.

"It's a combination of spider and scorpion?" Percy asked,

"It's a demon my Dad fought thirteen years ago." I explained, "And isn't it convenient that we are surrounded by water?"

"Good point," Annabeth said, "Tyson, Lux, you two distract it so Percy can concentrate on the water." I looked at Annabeth, "I'm gonna search for a boat, that demon is still a spider."
