Chapter 9:

The News Media is Now an Enemy, Great.

Iris messaging Vandhaul was simple. His orders were simple. Meet up with Clarisse and assist her on the quest when you return to shore. Chiron on the other hand? It was a mess. Percy used the flask to create a rainbow for us to message.

"So," Chiron said, he sounded solemn, "Mundus has aligned himself with Kronos."

"It checks out," I said, "A World of Chaos where he has control over all mortals. Isn't that what he wanted two thousand years ago?"

Chiron barely dodged a bear mug, "I'm talking over here! Settle down!" he yelled, "But yes, that's what he wanted before Sparda, Athena and Artemis stopped him." He looked at Percy, "Vandhaul is not treating you too harshly, is he?"

Percy shook his head, "He's actually been much more like another teacher," he said.

"Yes, Lux told me that he became his new mentor." Chiron replied, "It would make sense that he would show that to the other campers." He dodge a few more bear mugs and empty bottles of rootbeer, "I'm sorry my students, I must go."

"No worries Chiron," Annabeth said, "We'll clear your name, I can get behind Vandhaul, but you're better than him." Annabeth looked at me, "No offence Lux."

"I think he knows that he can't compete with Chiron," I said, "So none really taken."

The iris message petered out and we began heading to the Miami shores. Following Vandhaul's order. Annabeth began leading us to a secluded place. When we arrived at where Annabeth was taking us to. It was surprising, it was like a superheroes secret hideout.

"When did you make this?" I asked,

"Five years agos." Annabeth answered, "When I was travelling with Luke and Thalia."

Oh yeah. Annabeth arrived at Camp Halfblood with Luke. Even watching Thalia turn into a tree as she died. Gods, now I feel stupid.

Too many things are on my mind, and it's getting late. It took us all day to get here. "You three get some sleep," I said, "I'll patrol the area in case Luke had sent anyone to kill us." Tyson was already asleep and Percy not long after, I walked outside and sat at the entrance, Annabeth joined me.

"Shouldn't you be sleeping?" I asked,

"Shouldn't you not be playing with that scar?" Annabeth retorted,

I smiled and let out a slight laugh, "You got me," I said, I looked up at the stars, one was shining brighter than the others to me, one that was like a sword, "So tell me, before Camp Halfblood. What was your home like?"

Annabeth played with her cap for a second, then spoke, "Awful," she said, "My dad worked all day, and my stepmom," she pursed her lips, "Was the absolute worst." She took a deep breath, "What about you?"

"Where to start?" I said, "Home was okay, had my sister, my dad wasn't boring, had decent adults. Now school, that was the issue." I looked at the amulet Silena gave me last year, "My sister was bullied a lot. Because even back then, we both had snow white hair. The boys in my school would pick on her."

"Would you stand up for your sister?" Annabeth asked,

I chuckled slightly, "I broke their teeth." I answered, she expected that answer it seems, "Not like I wasn't, some older girls picked on me,"

"What did you do then?" She asked,

"Nothing," I answered, "My sister, however, broke one of the girls' arms."
