Chapter 15:
New Hope and New Fear as we Go Home
The Centaurs took us all to some fields out of the city. Tyson was being shown how to fire a paint gun, whilst Annabeth, Percy and Grover rested with Chiron. I just looked into the distance, my mind still fresh on what I did to Polyphemus. Chiron approached me slowly.
"Lux," he said, softly, "You seem troubled."
"Even though Polyphemus was a bad guy." I said, "I felt guilty about almost killing him."
"Guilty?" Chiron asked, "Percy told me that you awoke your demonic power, well, he assumes."
"I think he's right." I replied, "But I can't use it now. Why?"
"What thoughts went through your mind?" Chiron asked,
"I don't know," I said, "I felt rage. Clarisse mentioned that something was behind me."
"Your powers are blooming." Chiron said, "You must learn how to control it. It's linked to your emotions, given that it awoke in response to your sheer rage." Chiron placed his hand on my shoulder, "You always have a home at Camp Half-Blood."
I smiled, "I know," I looked over at Percy, Annabeth, Tyson and Grover, "Time to go home!" I exclaimed,
"Agreed." Chiron replied, "You four can be carried by me."
"No need, just hold on to me. I have a plan." I said, the five of them placed their hands on my shoulders. I closed my eyes, in my heart, Camp Half-Blood is my home. Flames ignited around us as we began to warp back to Camp Halfblood.
Everyone cheered as they saw Chiron. Clarisse stood with Vandhaul. Vandhaul smiled.
"Your mission is complete." Vandhaul said, "Top grades all round." He looked at me, "You okay?" I nodded at him, he smiled, "Good, because we still have your fourteenth birthday to celebrate." He turned to us all, "We shall celebrate Clarisse's completion of her quest and the mission to stop Kronos from being revived. Remember, we haven't won the war yet."
Everyone roared, Clarisse had already placed the fleece on Thalia's tree.
Days passed. The Gifts I got were a new set of armour from Charlie, this time gunmetal silver, a new locket from Silena and a shiny new lever action shotgun from Vandhaul. I walked through the camp. Everything was peaceful again. I'm not used to it. Not yet. It was calm before the storm. Not peace. Percy received a letter from Poseidon, saying 'Brace yourself'.
I stopped by Thalia's tree and sat next to it and relaxed. I began to hear breathing. I looked around, then I saw her. She was alive.
"SILENA!" I shouted, she ran up to me,
"What's wrong?" she asked, running up to me, "why are you-" She looked at Thalia's now living body and she ran into the camp to inform them all.
I looked for a pulse and there was one. I pulled her from the roots.
"Thalia?" I asked her, "Thalia!" I shook her slightly, she groaned slightly, everyone was surrounding us, I knew one way to wake her, I whispered into her ear, so nobody could hear, "Jason is alive."
She woke up in shock. She looked at me, specifically my scar.
"Strangest dream," she said, her voice croaky, "Dying, then."
"It's just that," I reassured her, "Tell me, Basket Case or Holiday?"
"Basket Case," she said, "Obviously."
"Good," I said, helping her stand, "Do you know who you are?"
"Of course." she replied, "I am Thalia, Daughter of Zeus."
The Prophecy has taken a turn.
