Chapter 13:
The Blind Idiot - Polyphemus
Well, as far as first impressions go for a blood thirsty cyclops who hates everyone he hears because one man blinded him. Looks nice really, emerald green pastures, lovely hillsides and a ravine that could kill us if we fell in it connected with a rope bridge.
"It's here," I said,
Annabeth smelled the sweet air, "The Fleece," she said, "It's definitely here."
"What's the plan?" Percy asked,
"This seems too easy," Annabeth replied,
"Yeah," I said, "Look at the sheep though. They're huge."
They all looked at the sheep, they were as large as hippos. Eating grass without a care in the world. They didn't look like much, just big, fat sheep.
"You'd think there'd be like a dragon or something." Annabeth said,
"Yeah," I replied, "That's what scares me about this."
"You're scared?" Percy asked, "Don't you fight demons for a living?"
"There are some things that will make the adrenaline kick into overdrive." I said, "lack of any real threat is a part of some things."
Then we see a deer run through the sheep, with a loud mass of blerting. They then swarmed the deer and ripped it to pieces.
"Can I speak for all three of us for a sec?" I asked, they both nodded, "Good, because, fuck all of that, right?"
"Yeah," Percy answered, "We need to find another way around."
"But look," Annabeth said, pointing at a lifeboat from the Confederate ship, "Do you know what this means?"
"Clarisse is either alive or dead?" I asked,
"Yeah," Percy said, "Great." Percy sounded dissatisfied.
"Any ideas, wise girl?" I asked Annabeth,
Annabeth surveyed the island, she then pointed to a cliffside, "We can climb that." She said, "It's the safest idea."
"At least it's not leaking lava." I said, "Percy, land us on the beach."
"Got it." Percy answered and ran to the helm, steering the ship to the beach.
We began to climb the cliff face. It was actually climbable, simple enough. We almost made it to the top when Annabeth slipped on some wet moss, slipping and falling onto Percy, who fell into me and knocked me off the cliff. I fell for a few seconds before using Goliath to claw into the cliff and as the two hurled themselves over I jumped up and landed next to them.
"Not cool." I said, panting heavily,
"Sorry Lux." Annabeth said,
"Ugh," I grunted, "It's the climbing wall race with Luke all over again."
We all then began to move, I decided to keep Goliath active, given we're going up against someone who is physically strong, they're needed.
We approached silently as we heard growling and snarling and a shouting Clarisse.
"You're a feisty one," Polyphemus bellowed,
"Challenge me!" Clarisse yelled, "Give me back my sword and I'll fight you!"
Laughter roared out from Polyphemus. Grover timidly stood there, in a wedding dress. Clarisse was tied up, struggling and growling at Polyphemus. No sign of Ty unfortunately, which upset Percy the most.
